You can't undo this kind of damage to your plants…

Hi,

often people end up feeding their plants way too much, way too little, or just the wrong proportions of the different nutrients.

That’s why I thought now would be the perfect time to refresh your memory about marijuana nutrients!

The best nutrients

Okay, first of all, the "best nutrients" varies according to your personal preferences and growing situation. You can even make your own! Here are the ingredients you’d need:

4 parts cottonseed meal
2 parts phosphate
2 parts wood ash
1 part limestone
1 part kelp meal
The safest way to go, however, is buying something professionally made. There are tons of products out there, many with extensive reviews by marijuana growers.

I personally love Flower Power and sell it in my online store here.

Deficiencies

At some point during the grow season your marijuana plants might start showing signs of nutrient deficiencies.

Before bombing your plants with extra nutrients, be sure to find out why the deficiency is happening! It’s not always because you're not feeding your plants enough of a nutrient.

In fact, more often than not, it comes down to a pH imbalance at the root level. Make sure the water you’re giving your plants is pH balanced before watering and check the pH down at the root level. If it isn’t where it should be, flush out the soil (or other medium) with pH-neutral water and start fresh to balance the pH.

Nutrient burn

Worse than a nutrient deficiency is a nutrient burn. Once your plant starts having side effects from a nutrient burn, it can’t "heal" those parts. Once the leaves start changing color, they can't go back to being green, healthy, and sun-absorbent.

To be sure you avoid nutrient burn, start with half of the recommended dosage for your marijuana plants. Never overdo it, no matter how eager you are to nurture your marijuana babies. It’s way easier to add more than to undo damage.

Happy growing,
