Today is #MarketFriday initiated by @dswigle (Denise, that's me!!) I hope you will join me as we share different markets across the globe. I always look forward to seeing what you send me! It is amazing to see so many different markets and different cultures.

Please leave the link to your post on here so it can easily be found by others. They are easier to find in one place. Where else can you take such a quick trip around the globe? Thank you so much!! ❤

Today is @MarketFriday and I want to take you along as I am visiting the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina. I discovered my visit would coincide with the Chinese Lantern Festival. It was such a great opportunity to show off the beauty and art of the Chinese culture. They sent workers to build these works of art similar to ones that they craft for the Chinese New Year. Because they are handcrafted, they are never the same, except the dragon who rests upon Symphony Lake - he was a careful redo from last year. He really was quite cool, I hope they do him again next year! I am told that you never know what to expect!

This a real cultural event and a great time! A real treat for these eyes!

I have been to so many new places lately! I love to share and be shared with! I have always and forever liked to see different fruits and vegetables or products that are being sold. Perhaps I cannot get them here. So, yes! I would love to see yours! Don't forget to take photos wherever you happen to be shopping - whether it be the grocery store, the local marketplace or even an art gallery. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or for merchandise. Be different if you wish! It does not have to be a traditional market! We will love it! I promise you! Don't forget to use the hashtag #MarketFriday and @dswigle.

You walk through the colorful entrance, into an amazing display of color. Get ready to be wowed.

Have you ever seen such beautiful lanterns? The hundreds of lanterns have more than 150,000 LED lights. The lanterns light up the path from the parking lot to the entrance to the park. You go so slow it seems like mile!! It's not! I can assure you!

Tunnels of fun! These were wonderful and truly an adventure in color!

According to China's various folk customs, people get together on the night of the Lantern Festival to celebrate with different activities. ... The most important and prevalent customs are enjoying lanterns, guessing lantern riddles, eating tangyuan, and lion dances. "Google"

This is not a contest, but you will still win by getting upvotes and resteems for your post. Thank you!!! Now go forth and visit! See what Keith is all about.

We must have a flower. Always a flower.

The loveliness of you never escapes me
May I gaze upon you, always and a day?

There was a nightly performance on the amphitheater stage of different forms of traditional dance, an amazing display of martial arts and drums. I missed the acrobats while I went back to some of the displays that were now unattended.

The #ColorChallenge was one of the first challenges I tried. It was a lifesaver and kept me going when I first started steemit and didn't know what to post. I dedicate this picture to #FridayBlue #ColorChallenge by @kalemandra.

This is the Panda Paradise. It changed colors every minute or so and was just teaming with Panda Bears. Can you see them all?

20181215_191403 Chinese Lanten Festival.jpg

There was a rather large pavilion where artists were carving/painting and everything in between, and there were booths set up so you could view their merchandise. I thought it was rather reasonable in price.

I want to thank everyone for visiting #MarketFriday! I appreciate the time it takes to read and respond to these posts. If you made a post and linked it, you know I will make my way over to your place to read it. I hope others will too. That is the joy of having a challenge. Post and share with others. Thank you for taking the time and energy to make a post and I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Don't ever forget what wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, so we must try harder to give everyone the proper focus.

Later that night
I held an atlas in my lap
Ran my fingers across the whole world
And whispered,
"Where does it hurt?"
It answered,

"Everywhere"
"Everywhere"
"Everywhere"

YES! I got the brain teaser HA!

Say this is an amazing show! When I move I am certainly going to get over there! I just cannot believe how many lights there are! How they do the cords I have no clue! I really like how vivid the colors are!! I love the shot with all of the lanterns on the ceiling! I cant wait to see it first hand! Great post, Sunshine.

Congratulations on getting the Brain Teaser! I was wondering if I was being too easy this week, but, the truth is that as easy as it is, it also is a little tricky. So good for you! I was hoping everyone is not getting tired of the Brain Teasers yet. They are fun to see how many people actually stop and take a try. :))

There are so many full-size lanterns at this glorious event, I imagine it would have been a power bill nightmare years ago, some time before LED came in. However, in saying that, I still prefer the light on the incandescent than the LED. Softer lighting would really give these lanterns a different glow, I would venture to guess. The light is so bright, in some places it shines through is what I was actually trying to point out. The cords are probably preset for displays right there on the premises as it is a park used for events. Probably much like the floor plugs we have in the middle of our living rooms and such. Set in place.

I really didn't get the shot I wanted with the lanterns on the ceiling. This was the weekend I forgot my camera (hello?? I guess I was still feeling the effects of being sick!! I never hardly ever leave home without it!) and so these were all with the cell phone. I was so terribly disappointed, but, then again, there is always next year to look forward to. Right? Who knows!? Perhaps next year they will be better than ever. I can hardly wait to get a shot of those lanterns and the dragon, two of the mainstays of the displays they do. I can hardly wait for you to see it first-hand also. You will be mesmerized! I just know it. Like a kid in a candy store!

Have a great weekend @old-guy-photos! Don't forget that there is a meetup at Uncle Booms @MeesterBoom place for #BeerSaturday! I hear it will be the talk of the platform... and then some!

!tip

Yeah along with the flowers, I think the brainteasers is part of your shtick. It's cute and fun to look forward to.
Ha! I don't want to see his knobby knees, but there is another video staring a cute blonde that I am most interested in ;) Just saying!

Haha! When I start doing a #BeerSaturday video, I will for sure need an editor. Lol i might be more likely to do a #WineWednesday. Hmmm. I like the sound of that!

YES! I want to be the editor!!! Oh I will edit and compress it, would be my pleasure!

You sure it shouldnt be #whinewednesday LOL!!!!!!!!!!

Now seriously I love #winewednesday!!! What a fun idea! OMG i love it. Seriously if you want help supporting it let me know.

I forget my camera and end up using the phone tooo often. Well usually I have the camera, but i forget a memory card or a battery!!!

Hey!! This isn't whiney Wednesday! Let's be of positive personalities, okay? I do like the idea of the wine however I'm not so sure that it would last very long. I will seriously have to think about it. I wouldn't mind being a tester. You know how this girl loves her wine.

Well it could be more than just taste, but also the photography of it as well.

Actually give it some thought because I do like the idea of it but I'm not sure I could carry it for that long

Sorry I have to break the truce for this one and Upvote, resteem and !tip this post

Here is my Post for this week

https://steemit.com/marketfriday/@tattoodjay/market-friday-eden-fine-art-in-soho

This truly was a lot of fun and I have been waiting for Christmas to subside so that I could post it. It actually ends tomorrow, although as Chinese New Year is on February 5th this year, I think they should have left it up a few weeks more.

I can imagine that you will be headed towards Chinatown in or around that date. It will be fun and they always do it up right! I will actually be away for a couple weeks then, so, I will totally miss it here in Washington, DC, which always has a great show. Maybe next year. Although I was sent away last year too... North Carolina does this every year, so if you happen to be in the Raleigh-Durham area... well, you know where to go in December. :-)

Thank you for dropping your link here! Much appreciated as is the upvote and resteem and oh, no! Another !tip??? How dare you!

Have a great Friday! I think we may get snow this weekend!!! Yay???

I pity they don't leave it up for Chinese New Year, I had not thought of visiting Chinatown at that time but of course i should and ill try to

Your getting as bad as me for sneaking in a you know what, but I don't feel bad for giving one this post truly deserved one without a doubt

Will you know you have to cover for me because I can't be in Chinatown this year! I would be there if I could. In fact, I hate missing it!

It is always such candy for the eyes, with the colors and the joyously exuberant people celebrating the new year.

Thank you, again, my friend. I'm not going to tip you either! So there! :)))

Ohh no does this mean we are now in a not tipping war? With your record I know I will lose that :)

I will do my best to get to see Chinatown, and of course get some photos :)

Oh my God! I think we would be the first people ever to be in one of those. Hey!! I would not!! Lol

I look forward to Chinatown!

lOL so true we could be trendsetters :)

What? Do you mean we are not trendsetters???? We'll have to work on that!

Who else is crazy enough to get up before the crack of dawn to hop on a commuter to work the rat race.

And then take a 6 mile walk in the dark around the creepy part of the city. We all know it has many.

OH! I almost forgot to drop my link! Yikes!!! Well here it is Princess! I actually woke up thinking about how I forgot OMG!!!

20190111_220909.jpg

Haha! Let's get fresh? Hmmm! You trying to tell me something old man?

Well, thank you for dropping the link and I will be over shortly to check you out. As always, I appreciate you dropping the link, even if you try the hardest to be last, making this turn into MarketWeekend. Oh, my!

You know Altoids are probably not on your diet, right?

That is the best !tip I will be sharing with you today! ;)

I AM trying to tell you something! But what? We will have to see, wont we!

Oh I was telling someone about MF and I did say it is fine to drop the link on a Friday or Saturday....whoops.... Let's not be a sticker, ok?

Let's just say I only use Altoids on special occasions! ;)

Ha! Well, of course, #MarketFriday is always welcome, but, I have to say that I usually check for it on Thursday night EST to Monday and then I leave it ride to the next week.

Fair?

I think that is fair enough. If I think about it, I check it, but, after Monday, I have moved on to #MonochromeMonday and #TreeTuesday with @old-guy-photos !

Of course you are always more than fair and quite accommodating. I know I am always very appreciative of it. You know I am always trying to do my best to pimp MF whenever I can!

:) Yes! You do! Thank you!

Wow, really nice photos! These colors look a bit like some parade photos I took one evening in the holidays. I like the way the lanterns look against the black background.

Thank you so much @Lightsplasher! This was one of the most colorful displays I have ever seen in my life! The black background against the color emphasized it even more! The venue was very conducive to meandering, and we did a lot of that!

I would love to see the pictures of the parade photos that you took. Or post them on Chinese New Year, it is only a few weeks away! :)

Thank you for the always generous upvotes and for the resteeming of this post. It is very much appreciated!

Excellent photos! What a treat to see and photograph a Chinese lantern festival! Beautiful work and another great post!

Thanks very much for the shout out as well, I really appreciate it! voted and resteemed! :) Have a wonderful weekend, Denise! :)

Thanks so much, Keith! @keithboone It was a good time for the shout out as most of my traffic comes on the #MarketFriday posts. I hope that you get some new faces over there as people LOVE to photograph birds! Where is Bev Brown when you are looking for her!

I am pretty sure you don't have a Chinatown, but, I sure loved the one in Toronto! It was pretty amazing, along with CabbageTown and a few other cool places. Canada is a real treat for culture and beauty. I think you should sell off that dang cold crap to the highest bidder, no?

I had such a great time here! The colors are totally eye candy and an explosion for the senses. Thanks for stopping by! It is always a pleasure! Thank you for the many, many upvotes and resteems. They are always appreciated!

The oldest Chinatown in Canada is here in Victoria. I posted about it on Wednesday, including a clip from a movie starring Mel Gibson and Goldie Hawn with a motorcycle chase through Chinatown. I know you can't be expected to see everything, but here's that post:
https://steemit.com/wednesdaywalk/@keithboone/a-wednesday-walk-down-fan-tan-alley

Thanks again @dswigle :)

Yes. I saw it. I totally forgot about it because the movie had a looooong stretch and it was so tiny!

I forgot it was in Victoria, even though my brain was saying it might have one. Wow. I read so many of them, I lose who they belong to. Sorry about that and I really did love it . I know I commented after you said fan-tan-alley.

Oh please, don't apologize! I miss so much stuff on here, it's impossible to keep up!

That is the worse part. I didn't miss it. I read it an commented on it. I didn't put two and two together. Pfft!

Haha yes, I see that! Like I said, who can keep track! Yes, you commented, voted and everything. You are always very supportive and you know I appreciate it :)

Of course, that goes both ways! ;)

These are lovely. We have similar kinds but the pandas are really something.

Thank you so much, Ace! @ace108 I will bet that yours are pretty amazing! I hope you get some pictures in and around on the New Year! I will be away, so I will miss the Chinese New Year, here in Washington, DC. They always have an amazing parade and so I look forward to you posing some!

They had pandas all over. It was obviously the theme and they were wonderful lanterns! Thanks for stopping by and I had my traditional Chinese Music up and ready and when I went to move the location on the post, forgot to put it back in! Boo!!!

Thank you for stopping in and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

!tip

I will probably be posting some more than posing some but I heard some were disappointed with this year decoration at Chinatown.
Anyway, lanterns are more of a thing for mid-autumn than Chinese New Year here

Perhaps that is why they have them at this time of year instead of Chinese New Year? Perhaps. Hopefully the decorations won't be as big a disappointment as you heard.

Thank you, Joy! @joythewanderer This was such an awesome post, bringing us to a place that most will never visit. It is interesting and I just loved meandering around with you!

Thanks for taking us to West Africa and for taking the time to post into #MarketFriday!

!tip

Hm, something went wrong with the comment, but I think I`ve managed to send the tip ;)

Darn, I said 5 small sandwiches on a plate. [Sigh].
Such gorgeous night photos and light. Well done. I love this sort of thing. A challenge, and well worth it.

Oh my goodness! I think you go out of your way just to hear the sound me guffawing, don't you??

I really do love this sort of thing and I was taken by surprise and how beautiful it was. The details and just the breathtaking Vision created. I daresay that this chick will be visiting there again next year.

How can I say thank you enough to someone who always drops by and leaves a touch of humor and a lot of kindness on my posts? I appreciate this and you and just know that I am going to get off my lazy you-know-what and walk over to your place. Why do you live so far?

!tip

Few things in life are better than making someone laugh, and one of those, is making you laugh. You seem to be on of a good humor on a regular basis. I'm sorry I live so far off in the western sphere here, but will continue to connect via little wires whenever possible. What fun it is ! Though I can relate to the not getting to it enough stuff, and double though....I would not call it lazy, just busy and so much going on in life. We push on into the world of Steem ( :
And thanks muchly for the tip. Very nice of you indeed.

Well now, that's true! I am actually pretty happy by Nature, although I can get my dander up on occasion. It's true. There are so many people that are busy right now, or work with holidays and have lost the habit getting on steemit. That and steem being low has scared a bunch of people away, or at least made it not so enticing to be here. I guess I just like the social media aspect of it, although the crypto is intriguing. But, I'm not here for the money, so it is not as big a deal for me, as I don't have anything invested of my own here. Anything that I have made, what started from nothing, so the only thing I have invested is my time.

I hope that more people will return to the platform, but I suppose everything has can expiration date, much like the milk in the refrigerator. Oh well, you write it and I'll read it. Even if I get there a day late and a dollar short. Always good to see you!
