Marriage, Just like many other practices is one which has been inculcated into human history and traditions. For centuries Marriage has been a way or means where by two parties mostly between male and female find union and profess love for one another in matrimony.
There are many traditions surrounding this practice which varies from place or from time to time through history, Most traditions or religions although see Marriage as an eternal affair and a common sentence made is 'until death do us part. '
This simple means death is the only thing allowed to separate these two individuals and this vow which is taken at the point of this union is not taken likely.

Many beliefs surrounds this practice and its authenticity is very valuable to both the two parties involved and the surrounding environment.
In most African countries such as Nigeria for example, three kinds of marriages are usually done by one couple. The first is the traditional wedding which Involves the parents of the two individuals meeting in a traditional setting and background to Wed or put to union of their children with respect to the ancestral culture that has been passed down for generations.
The cultural practices involve traditional wears, dancing and food. This is a means where they are allowed to both practice their cultural heritage and portray to the other family the cultural background from which they came.

The second is the court wedding, this weddings are mostly viewed as the most important to the literate population as it helps in putting two individuals to union by the law. It's usually a simple process and is easily done.
The two individuals simply bring witnesses or their parents. Once this is done, they are legally married and can access certain advantages which may come up in the future.
The last is the Marriage carried out in the church which covers the religious aspects. This could be a Christian or a Muslim wedding as these are the two dominant religious practices in the country. Although they are a few who don't do this, few people may do just the traditional or court wedding or one of each depending on their beliefs and literacy or religion.

This kind of marriage is done in a place of worship where the two parties are wedded before or with the Supreme being they worship, which may be God or Allah as the case may be. In most cases after this they is usually a reception where the marriage is celebrated through food, drinks and Joy.
These are a few ways by which marriages are celebrated works wide. As a fact they are hundreds of traditions or cultures in which marriages are done but on thing is an agreement most be reached between the two parties involved.
Although as the generations of mankind has evolved through the centuries the practice has changed and shifted from one form to another. While some don't value the practice anymore, some others go into it and end up annulling it, probably through the court or the religious aspects. As time has shown us, problems between two individuals may grow from time to time, not all individuals feel the need to continue. Over the years it has brought about complications and problems but the practice is still practiced world wide on a very large scale.
