My vision of martial-arts
For me, martial-art dosen't mean kicking and fighting everyone, everywhere. They are not just skills you learn to be stronger than your neighboor, to impress someone or to take revenge on someone that bullied you.
It is far more than that. It is a way of life that you can improve until your death. Yeah, there is no end on that way, there is always something to learn, so you will never end up by saying "what now?"
There is no good or bad martial-art. Like I said in my introduction you can find something usefull in each of them.
For example, a karateka can use some internal tai-chi techniques to improve is control over is whole body. Making him, stronger, faster and powerfuller.
On the opposit, an aikidoka can learn from a boxer how to use his fists and breath control.
In the end, the only things that matters is how you use the panel of techniques you have.
A good start! But what about chi? : )
You are right :) But it will take the time to write about it. Theres is a lot of things to say about chi ;)
