Kurt Wagner is the son of mutant share-shifting Mystique and Azazel from La Isla des Demonas which he gained her mutant powers.He has been in the circus doing some acrobat to entertain people but the circus has less people going and so they try to sell Kurt, but he escape into the forest. He has helped both Professor X and Cyclops to rescue some X-Men from Krakoa.Source here
image sourceHe then joined Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters where he do improve his powers. He has the ability to teleport himself , superhuman agility, camouflage and superhuman reflexes. He is a skilled acrobat, a master combatant, aviator and also a medic.He joined the British-based superhero team and become one of the founding member.Source here

Yes, it seems Nightcrawler has less appearance on movie, i am hoping to see more of it. @sketchart
