The Log of History: 1000xLog(4), 602 A.D.

in #math7 years ago

1000*Log10(4) = c.602 because 10^0.602 = c. 4.

So, what happened in the year 602 A.D.?

In the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Emperor Maurice was murdered by a subordinate named Phocas, who immediately became the new emperor. This led to renewed wars with Persia, with whom Maurice had previously had good relations. The official religion of the Persians was still Zoroastrianism, as Mohammed did not begin reciting the Quran until 610.

Amsuvarman, the first Thakuri king, takes power in Nepal in 602, and chooses Kathmandu Valley as the site of his palace.

AEthelbert of Kent writes the oldest known code of Anglo-Saxon laws, The Laws of Aethelbert, in 602. A sample:

If a freeman steal from a freeman, let him make threefold bot; and let the king have the wite and all the chattels.
If a freeman lie with a freeman's wife, let him pay for it with his wergeld, and provide another wife with his own money, and bring her to the other.
[Hmmmm...]
If [during a fight] the nail of a great toe be cut off, thirty scaetts for bot; for each of the others, make bot with ten scaetts. . . .

It seems to be a rather long list of something to the effect of a thousand dollars for an eye, instead of an eye for an eye.

The Log of History so far:

1000xLog(1) = 0 Jesus' Birth.
1000xLog(2) = c.301 Armenia becomes Christian; Diocletian fixes prices.
1000xLog(3) = c.477 Zeno informed Rome no longer has an emperor; Shaolin Temple built.
1000xLog(4) = c.602 First Anglo-Saxon laws recorded; Byzantine Emperor Maurice murdered.
