The inside story of John McAfee
Hello everyone, we hope you are enjoying your Tuesday! Today we are excited to share a short inspiring story about: John Mcafee
John is certainly one of the more eccentric characters in the cryptocurrency space, and although he may be one of the easier targets for criticism, we think he is a net positive, and brings a large spotlight and some added attention.
John began his rise to prominence in 1987 when he founded Mcafee Associates, being the first commercial antivirus software on the market. They quickly grew, and John ended up resigning from the company 7 years later in 1994. Since then, Mcafee has remained unafilliated with Mcafee Antivirus Software, although it is commonly mistaken. Although certainly a rich man, it is estimated that Mcafee’s wealth peaked around 2008 when he was valued at around $100 million. Although now he might be worth more money, it is difficult to estimate as the vast majority of his funds are tied up in cryptocurrencies.
What we like about John isn’t his wealth though! It was in 2016 that Mcafee gained increased scrutiny and media attention when he decided to run for the President of the United States under the Libertarian party, competing against Gary Johnson and Austin Peterson. Mcafee defenatly brought increased attention to cryptocurrencies and a political platform amongst, which many crypto enthusiasts share: A free market economy, non redistrobution of wealth, non-foreign interventionalim, and a focus on the threat of cyber warfare.
Since then, Mcafee has stated that he plans to run again for the 2020 president either under the Libertarian Party, or to form his own separate party. His primary purpose is to promote the use of cryptocurrencies, and has stated that he won’t even answer a single question without redirecting the conversation back to cryptocurrencies somehow.🤷
Whether you like John or not is one thing, but as cryptocurrency enthusiasts we love to see people who have a passion for our industry and want to promote it main stream. After all, It is said that no publicity is bad publicity! We look forward to watching John continue his campaigns and hope he is succesful in bringing more people into the industry to learn and question how money works, and to create a more decentralized and democratic world.
