Meetup #13 - Batu Caves Tour + STEEM Burger Lunch
Happy TGIF everybody, it's super nice weather today with a clear buy sky over the city of Kuala Lumpur. Today I'm bringing our overseas Steemians for a day tour at Batu Caves, getting ready by 8.45 AM and head off to fetch them from their hotel.
We managed to reach to Batu Caves at 10 AM sharp as traffic are pretty clear ahead outside of the downtown area. Although it's my first time meeting @nomadiscoul and @macchiata after a few chat through discord, it does feel like we already knew each other for quite some time.
Batu Caves
Murugan Statue beside the 272 concrete step of stairs
Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Sungai Batu (Stone River), which flows past the hill. It is the tenth limestone hill from Ampang. Source: Wikipedia
Greeted by the World's tallest Golden Murugan Statue which stands at 42.7m (140ft) high at the entrance of Batu Caves is a perfect spot to get some pictures and wefie together marks the official start of our visit to Batu Caves.
It's sunny hot right here!
Right after our wefie, it's time to walk up the steep 272 concrete steps to reach the top where the cave temple is and right before the entrance we saw a group of tourists where most of them wear short pants which aren't allowed on the temple, so they needed to rent some short scarf to cover their bottoms with a small fees of RM 3.
Queueing up to get their short scraf on
Very steep stairs
It took us 15-20 minutes to climb the stairs as it's tiring 😂, many people stopping to take photos while resting, and monkeys wandering around which distracted @nomadicsoul.

As soon as we reached the top which is a 100 metres above ground, we get a great view of the sky with the same clear blue sky. As Batu Cave is a limestone hill, the wall of the cave is unique with a different style, texture, colours and shape.

Pigeons and monkeys can be found most of the area in Batu Caves and most of them aren't afraid to contact with humans, many local come and feed them occasionally and so does we 😂. We were given a few handfuls of peanuts to feed the monkey and bought a packet of the peanut as well in the end.

Right after we got the packet of peanut, a sneaky little monkey caught @nomadiscoul off guard and snatched the packet of peanut right out from her hand even though she's grabbing it tightly. Oh well, I guess he enjoys very much his reward 😅 and monkey are sneaky 🙈.
Enjoying the reward
After feeding and enjoying playing with the monkeys, it time to head down the stairs and visit to the Dark Cave which is another cave next to the main cave, the Dark Caves is more for a guided walk tour into the caves itself but we never participate the tour as it's paid tour. The tour is about 45 minutes of walking into the cave itself which is super dark and cost around RM 35 per adult and RM 25 per children.

After that, we went down the steep stairs down to the exit and hop into the car to get our lunch which I then bring them to the must stop restaurant for Steemians 😉, did you guessed it right? Yep, @danielwong's Big Hug Burger 🍔!
Big Hug Burger Lunch
Reached here after a 20 minutes ride from Batu Caves as traffic started to build up a little bit during the lunch hours, but it wasn't that bad anyway time for some STEEM burger! The kitchen seems to be busy during the lunch hour and got my order messed up a bit, but it was then compensated by a side Onion ring on da house which is a very nice of them, Kudos!
Thanks @danielwong, @hooiyewlim and @jasonwes77 for dropping by for a visit and we had a pretty long talk until 4 PM and had to leave before the TGIF traffic starting to pile into Setapak. Oh! and before we leave it's always the signature wefie moment 😉.
Happy Lunch & Happy Gathering 😆
