My Daily Routine As A Successful Internet Marketer - The Breakdown
Hi there Steemers,
My name is Thomas and I've been working online since 2003. It seems like last year I started because things change so drastically online from year to year, but it's definitely been a while :)
I wouldn't say I'm rich, but I make enough to be able to work online full time. I and the founder and CEO of my own company and have been for a while now. I didn't incorporate right as I started back in 2003, I think we did it in 2010ish. So for 6-7 years I was working as a freelancer for people who needed help with their websites, rankings, sales, marketing, etc.
I can basically do anything for a website in order to get it from start to finish and then profit :D
So here's the daily routine of what I do, usually.
When I wake up I'll do the normal things like brush my teeth, shower, get dressed and such. But as for the first thing I do for work, I'll open my laptop and check my emails. I have most of the emails of my websites forwarded to my main email, kind of like a catch all email, and I can respond accordingly depending on what website the email is coming from :)
After I check my emails and respond to whatever I have to I'll go into my business accounts and check my sales. Normally in the beginning of the day I'm not expecting much because it's only the start. If I hit my daily sales goal already then I'm ecstatic :D But it doesn't happen as often as you would think, maybe a few times a year :(
After I check my sales I'll get in touch with all the people who work for me and see what they're doing at the time I wake up. I have people from all over the world working for me so some of them could be going to bed while others are just waking up or some might be half way through their day. I hire from all over the world because I can tap into a talent pool which is bigger than I could if I was trying to find people around an office building. Letting them work from home is less stressful and since I have access to everyone, they're usually smarter and harder workers ;)
After checking in with my team I will then start, or continue, on any marketing campaigns that I'm personally working on or helping a team member with. Sometimes this takes up a lot of my time during the day because it can get pretty intense since the layout of the campaign isn't just A-->B-->C-->DONE It's more like A-->B+X(7)-->Back To A-->Ping-->D-T-->LOL--> :'( --> :) --> well you get the idea :D
If I don't have any campaigns to set up or help tweak, I'll work on any design work that my design team is overflowing with. I can't do some of the crazy stuff the team can do, so I think that sometimes I'm just getting in the way lol.
After I help my team I'll check on our emails again. Usually I have some responses from the first time I emailed back anyone from the morning. I'm usually answering questions or putting out fires from clients who think that if they pay us $50 they should be #1 for the keyword "GOOGLE" on Google (insert facepalm here).
LUNCH TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I usually take an hour for lunch because I like to relax and take my time. Hell, sometimes I even play some video games and just snack :D
Ok, back to work! I'm usually at hour 6 of my day, so I'm nearing the end... lol not true :(
So now I've checked my emails, checked our sales, helped with campaigns, helped with design and programming, and took a lunch. Now it's time to do everything all over again :D yeah, rinse and repeat lol.
If my day does slow down and I have some free time, I'll work on new projects and try to get a new revenue stream up and running. I'll usually recruit one of our designers and programmers and we'll brainstorm on my idea to make it flawless, then we'll begin. If the idea gets out of the brainstorming stage we can usually make it profitable within a month. When I say "profitable" I mean "make money". My programmers and designers usually work on a commission basis so that means I don't have to pay them for their time invested :D They know my ideas are pretty sweet, so they're more than willing to put 40 hours of work in since I can usually make money off of it. After it's making money, we begin a split. I like to do a 50/20/10/10/10 split. This means that 50% of the money the project/website makes goes back into the websites advertising, 20% of the money goes into the business account for taxes, and the 10%/10%/10% is for me, my designer, and programmer.
Next I'll take a long "break" to hang out with my family and watch a movie or have dinner. And after my break or before I go to bed I'll check my emails one last time to respond to whatever is needed.
Well, that's a basic breakdown of my day. It took me a long time to get to where I am and I'm glad I put in more hours than I would at a normal 9-5 job. I love everyday of my work because I have one of the best teams in the world and I don't think I'll every stop typing... Unless my hands got cut off of course :D
Do any of you work online? Do you dabble with freelancing?
Thanks,
Cryptommy
