Narcissistic Abuse

in #mental4 years ago (edited)

I am in the healing stage from my 2nd relationship of Narcissistic abuse.
My 1st wife of 27 years was a pathological narcissist... inside the house, her mask came off...then the abuse would start. Usually the kids were her first target. Physical, emotional and psychological abuse...whatever she was in the mood for. Both my daughters and myself have PTSD on different levels from that experience.
the story is extremely disturbing and diabolical...I hope someday I can finish writing my lived experience.
It is one of the hardest challenges I have ever faced.
How do you tell such an unbelievable story, that you yourself cant believe what happened.
understand, that I did everything in my power to protect my daughters...I even called the police on 2 separate occasions…both times I was asked to leave the house. leave my kids with their abuser...

My 2nd wife of 5 and a 1/2 years was a vulnerable (Covert) narcissist.
I was well aware of the red flags from my first marriage, however, the covert narcissist are very good at hiding those flags through deceit and manipulation. The abuse is so insidious that by the time you realize what happened...you are already brainwashed from the covert manipulation and/or coercive control. You have most likely already experienced the brutal discard... if you know this.
The covert Narc never removes their mask...not even at home behind closed doors.
Both relationships... I attempted suicide. It was the only escape.

However, i am still here and want to let everyone know...that you are never alone. Tell your story, over and over...awareness and education is the key.

more to come...

Thank you for posting about this topic and creating awareness. I wish you all the best in your situation and never forget, you got targeted not because of your weaknesses but because of your strengths - forgiving yourself is the key.

You're welcome... awareness is first and foremost. Society needs change their perspective of how men are also abused and are treated in the judicial system.

Indeed, the perspective is more like upside-down - all around the world. The main problem is, that societies are run by these "individual" and "victims" of narcissistic abuse need to take care of. In a way to shut them down completely while defending the perpetrator at any cost.
