Google blocks cryptocurrency mining app in Play Store

Google recently announced plans to limit the distribution of cryptocurrency mining applications in the Play Store. Google last month updated its developer policy to not allow apps that mine cryptocurrencies on devices to exist on Google Play, but allow remote management of cryptocurrency mining applications.

That has not stopped developers to push the smartphone mining software Play Store, One example is JSEcoin, this is a British block chain start-up companies, is committed to mining browser-based solutions, an alternative stream as an advertising channel. Earlier this week, the company announced the successful launch of its mobile app to the Play Store.

In addition, the app also has the ability to remotely manage mining jobs, or to mine cryptocurrencies directly on mobile devices if the user wishes. Even if the latter's features violate Google's new policy, search engine giants have approved the app to be listed on the Play Store.

We contacted John Sim, co-founder and CTO of JSEcoin, to ask if the application was indeed mining directly on mobile devices. John Sim said that this statement is correct, they also sought confirmation from the Google support team whether to allow users to mine cryptocurrencies through official applications.

We also asked Google to clarify how its new cryptocurrency mining policy was implemented. Google said that Google will regularly update its developer policies based on current best practices to maintain a safe and positive experience for developers and consumers on Google Play. But after Google made a clarification for a while, the JSEcoin app was no longer available on Google Play.
