Struggle story of HIMA DAS ( 1st Indian athlete to win Gold in 400mts).

Hima Das had born in poor family in the Nagaon district of Assam. She is youngest of six siblings. She is daughter of poor rice growing farmer.Due to absence of running track, she had to train on a muddy football field. She had lack of facilities and training equipment . She spent her childhood playing football . She played football with boys and want to make career in football. Later she switched over to athletics.

His coach Nipon Das, seeing her running on the dusty foot ball fields. For training, she takes passenger train from her village to Guwahati, which is very far from her house.But due to strong will power, she did not bother these things. Her full focus was on the training. She then moved to Saarusajai sports stadium.

Last year at New Delhi, she finished fifth at 100m and in September she finished first in 200m and shows her capability.Ahead of the Tampere 400m final, Hima cruised into the semi-final as the fastest qualifier overall, clocking 52.25s. She entered the women’s 400m final after winning the semi-final in 52.10s.

Now Hima Das had created history in World under 20 Athletics Championship.

The best moment after winning was that, tears are coming from her eyes when Indian National Anthem was played. Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi reached to congratulate her. Now, she is the brand ambassador of Assam state.
