Important for new users of steemit

Hello friends..
I was looking at some of the posts written by some of the new users here. I know that I am also in learning phase, but in around a month, what I've learnt, I think I should share with you all, so you all may get some benefit.

  1. Be original: You may choose to write about any good subject, but it is important to be original, and write your own content. If you copy some content like a photo or any other from the internet, it's advisable to give the due credit to the original writer/uploader(of pic). If you don't do that, if any whale happens to pass by your post, he may flag your post if he gets to know that it is copied. If you are a new user, it may even decrease your reputation more.
  2. Avoid spamming: Outside steemit, like in a whatsapp/facebook group of newbies, you may post your link to be upvoted, but it's not much appreciated on steemit. Here, some of the experienced users(whales) may easily flag you, which will make you struggle more for getting a good reputation. Similarly, asking something again and again, or asking for upvotes here in every blog, may irritate those whales and you may get downvoted/flagged.
  3. Avoid too short/offensive content : Sometimes, it's good to be short and precise, e.g. when you are posting a pic, or video. But if you are posting some informative post or story, it is ok for that post to be a little long. Sometimes, the users open a post looking at its title, expecting to see something interesting, but when they see just a single line with a pic, they don't upvote, coz simply they think it's not worth it. Similarly, an offensive content, like some adult content or a content spreading hatred, may get many downvotes, and may make difficult for you to increase your rep or to get a good payout.
  4. It's not so difficult, and not for everyone: What I feel, writing a blog on steemit, is just same as writing a blog on wordpress or blogger. It is not so difficult, and should be taken just casually. Don't write anything just for the sake of writing. Not everyone has good writing skills. It is okay, if you can just write one quality post in 2-3 days. Rest of the time, you may just build your network, approaching more people, making new friends, and help each other to give and receive votes. You may earn not only on writing a post, but also on curation, like upvoting others' posts.
  5. Avoid too short comments : When commenting on someone's post, too short comment may easily get ignored, or in the worst case, flagged. Yes, it sounds harsh to get flagged for it, but some of the whales do it. So, either don't comment, or if you do, try to comment a little bit long, like a catchy one, asking questions, or expressing your opinion, which may get the attention of the post creator.
  6. Avoid typos/punctuation/grammatical errors: No one is perfect. A slight error in punctuation, grammar is okay, but it should not be a blunder, that it may become difficult for the reader to understand the sentence. I have seen some posts having such errors, which may be sometimes irritating for the 'grammar nazis' or whales too. So read carefully before posting your blog, what you have written.
  7. Investing a little to build up reputation: I admit, I have used some bots to upvote my posts to skale up my reputation. It may not be too profitable, but may help you reach a good reputation in short time. There are many such bots available, but it would be a plus if you follow the steps above too, along with this step. Also, building a reputation is easy, but maintaining it is not so easy.
  8. Finally, have patience: You have to be active here, like working for 2 hours daily (at least) and build network to get good results. If you are writing a good content, and still not getting paid much, the only thing you may be lacking in, is that your post isn't reaching to a lot of people. So try reaching out to more people, build network here, and don't lose patience. Even if you are not getting paid much, most of you haven't invested any amount here too. So don't worry much.
I hope the above steps may be beneficial to all of you. If you have more suggestions and some more ideas, please comment below. If you find this post useful, kindly upvote and resteem as an appreciation. Thanks and take care :)
