"SEA BECAME DESERT" How its possible? Have a look
“SAHARA” the largest desert in the world is the warmest place in this planet. Do you know that Tethys Sea was in place in the desert several hundred million years ago?
In this blog I am going to discuss some interesting and knowledgeable facts about “SAHARA”. A sea that has become the world's largest desert - How? Let’s go for the discussion.
Location
A large part From China's Gobi Desert to South America's Desert is located in the middle of the Earth. This part is called as Dessert Belt. The largest desert in this belt is Sahara which is about three times larger than the size of India.
The Sahara Desert extends across twelve countries that are located in Egypt, Morocco, Mali, Libya, Mauritania, Algeria, Chad, Eritrea, Niger, Sudan, Tunisia and West Sahara.
How Tethy's Sea became Sahara Desert?
The entire Africa continent is located on a tectonic plate of the world. In the past, Tethys Sea was between Africa and Europe.
Four million years ago, due to the dynamic movement of tectonic plate, it shifted towards north to Europe. As a result, the northern part of Africa collapses from the sea level to a very high level, and gradually drifting into this region becomes a desert.
Wadi El-Hittan – Proofs Sahara was a sea before
The name of a part of the Sahara Desert, Wadi El-Hittan, 150 km away from Cairo, the capital of Egypt. In Arabic the meaning of this word is the valley of the whale. Approximately 32 million years ago, fossils of extinct Doradan whale species have been found here.
Wadi El-Hittan is the best example of this desert which proves that the place was in the sea in the past. So far, the world's largest fossils have been found at here. It’s a world Heritage site.
Sahara Desert - Green and Wet
Seeing the Sahara Desert, it seems as the green color has been removed from nature. But after being turned into a desert from the sea, the desert has become alive many times. Every twenty thousand years the Sahara desert becomes grassland and wetland. This is because the earth becomes slightly tilt in its northern direction after every twenty thousand years. As a result, the direction of the Earth's monsoon winds change. During this period, due to the abundance of rainfall in the Sahara Desert, this region becomes green again. Last five to seven thousand years ago people and animals lived in the Sahara region. It is believed that after 15000 years the Sahara Desert will become green again.

How techtonic plate slides and make desert please explain?
It's due to Earthquake. When Africa collided with Europe, then in between the Tethy's Sea disappeared day by day and the place became water less and the sand under the sea laterally came out.
