The mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, may be trying to turn his city into a hotbed of cryptocurrency innovation.

Suarez said on Twitter on Thursday that he is "absolutely exploring" making Miami, the seventh largest city in the United States, the seat of the country's first crypto-centric municipal government.

The city seems to agree with the concept of going from tokenization to voting on the chain. He tagged the new city resident Anthony Pompliano, the creator and partner of Morgan Creek Digital, and a cryptocurrency Twitter celebrity for help.

In a subsequent tweet, Suarez stated that he hopes South Florida is “at the vanguard of legislation that promotes cryptocurrency and moves us forward towards innovation”. He said he will get in touch with Caitlin Long of Blockchain Dogan University in Wyoming.

Suarez has recently been pushing Silicon Valley’s dissatisfied and hopeful tech startups, who are tired of California’s taxes and regulations, especially the crime and dung streets of San Francisco, and moved to Miami. The encryption perspective is likely to be the latest strategy for this bid.
