Where have all the upgoats gone? - The state of the Boost
Hi everyone! We wanted to take a moment to address the concerns many of you have been expressing both on Steemit and in our Discord Server.
At the current moment, Minnowbooster is unable to supply upvotes requested between 0.03 SBD and 11SBD. We understand, this essencially eliminates most of you from being able to call on Minnowbooster to upvote your posts. We'd like to apologize, and give a little insight into what is happening to cause this gap.
As you may know, Minnowbooster is the only system that currently guarantees a profitable return on your boost. However, there is a lot of back end math that has to go into making that work.
At present, Minnowbooster holdings and delegated SP combine to make almost 3 million SP that we can utilize to vote. If you go to steemnow.com and start playing with the slider, you will quickly see how that Steem Power can become untenable with calls for lower Boost requests. We simply cannot slide low enough with the main account to provide the appropriate boosts for the incoming requests.
In order to continue to provide the service we aim to offer, we have begun the process of vote buying. As explained in Minnowbooster needs your vote, we are utilizing member votes to fulfill requested boosts, and paying those members for the use of that vote.
Unfortunately, all of the members who have signed up for the service, who have the voting power to fill in the gap, have gone below the Voting Power they have set on their sliders as allowing us to buy their vote. Our Vote supply is exhausted.
Supply is not able to keep up with demand.
So our voters need to rest until they can support new votes, or new voters need to sign up for the service and come on board. We need voters of all sizes to help us fill the gap. Please read How Much can I make selling my vote to Minnowbooster for a overview of the profitability of participating in the Sell your Vote market.
Our team is working tirelessly to find a solution to create more opportunity for Boosts across all SBD ranges. In the meantime, we ask for your patience, and if you or someone you know might have the ability to participate with the Sell your vote program, every sign up for this program helps us continue to support the community, while also providing you a Steem payout!
Thank you for your continued support as we work on providing the most benefitial tool set on Steem. Despite our growing pains, we continue to move forward to provide the services you need to succeed on Steem!

This is a @steemvoter subscription payment post. Thank you to Steemvoter customers for allowing us to use your Steem accounts to upvote this post by virtue of your free subscription to the Steemvoter.com bot service. @steemvoter is proudly a @buildteam subsidiary and sister project to @steemsports and @minnowbooster.
How about the fact that you're raping the reward pool to the tune of $200 almost daily now with these bullshit posts? Would you like me to completely kill off your service? If so, please continue doing what you are because you're very close to me doing so.
It really wouldn't be hard for me to start countering everything your service does. How would your customers like that? Pretty sure they wouldn't want 50+ flags every time they receive a vote from you.
I think it's being forgotten, that the whole reason that @minnowbooster was created by @reggaemuffin, was because all of the "boosters" available on the market had a negative roi... and MB wouldn't be so successful if there wasn't such a huge gap left by the competition. I'd be happy to say that there are other boosters who do a better job than MB, however, it's just not true. They spread 90% of profits to a diverse group of investors, where every other bot owner simply keeps the profit, and don't offer a good return.
The @minnowbooster team is very open to suggestions and constructive criticism. Which other bot owners have a customer service department? These guys care about their customers, that is the reason they are successful.
So I expect you will now flag me to oblivion for sharing my opinion, and I will have to accept that. But I will not be silenced by fear of your flags anymore.
Simply offer the community a better alternative to @minnowbooster, and they will go away of a natural course. I'd love to have a list of boosters that I could trust to answer complaints, that offer a reasonable roi, and that do something with their profits besides keep them.
Buildteam is a business, run for a a profit, but they are the most socially conscious of all the boosters on the market, and I'll be happy if you prove me wrong.
mostly I expect you to flag me for disagreeing with you.
No, you’re being flagged because this comment doesn’t deserve $3. Consider minnowbooster dead, not because of the service, but because they’re scammy.
@Berniesanders, I can't seem to get a direct response from you thus far, but seeing as to how adamant you are about the fact that minnowbooster is scammy, I would like to seriously understand your points.
I see your actions I simply do not have the means to understand your points clearly.
Once again, above anyone else who isn't in your inner circle, I have done my due dilligence in trying to understand by going through literally every comment you have made in the last 2 months to better understand why minnowbooster is worse than any other upvote service.
So far I have gathered:
I am trying to draw proper consensus on the matter so I may report upon this issue in an unbiased manner and more importantly propose a solution.
Many minnows me included relied very much on minnowbooster and am basically left in the dust in this war.
What I have also gathered from other members of Steemit is your actions though dubious to the public, is for the betterment of the platform. Please aid doing right by the platform as well.
I find it hard to do without a clear consensus on the matter.
Money comes first, the richest more rich and minnows get squeeze! Where are we going?
Out of all honesty I'm using minnowbooster with the idea to Hold the fck out of anything I get. The issue is that everyone is just cashing out and greeding for the benefit of profits. I really want to build SP to be part of something in the future, but I must agree the voting services are wrecking the fck out of steem now. Just because they are almost all that is left as a way to get some SP. The thing is that The less you get the more you push to be a better content creator and that has to be respected.
I think your comment made me think about using any bots in the future. Hope things get better because the potential of steem lies in the future, what we get now is just a taste.
Much Love ♡
I agree with you. When I started I just wanted to earn dollars, now I post my blogs to get reputation. Its a big difference, only those can understand, they actually change their self.
Actually, they recently reduced ROI, so people would use it more for advertising and visibility than as an investment strategy...
I still don't fully understand the whole concept of handing out upvotes worth more than the purchase price lol
Ya
Hi Bernie, I'm not sure why you are so hostile, even to the point of attacking me on a personal level. I have nothing against you, we used to talk in the past and I defended you when you were being muted in steemit.chat. My only crime is I have been successful on Steem, and in a transparent manner with various innovative and first of their kind business ideas which have engaged and thrilled the community. I have built teams and formed partnerships with great and intelligent people whom I now call friends. Through my projects, relatively unknown people in the past such as @furion, @ats-david and @theprophet0 got visibility and fame and have now come into their own on Steem.
I never premined, nor gamed the internal market, nor put out PLG posts, nor voted my own comments in secret with multiple trail accounts like much of what goes on here, everything I do is well publicised. Over 90% of everything I have earned, I have powered up and redelegated to community services, I have spent a huge amount of time on Steem that could have been spent with my wife and kids, every moment arguing takes my time away from them or from improving our services or coming up with future great ideas. I believe in Steem and am working towards being able to work on Steem full-time in future, I stand as an example that with enough "drive", passion and a team of awesome people, anyone can make it on Steem without having ties to its insiders.
I think it is uncalled for to threaten our customers and I will personally stand behind our customers with everything I have at my disposal, and I am certain our customers will stand behind me and our team @buildteam. We are here to build and help make Steem great and fun, help us, don't fight us.
You were once glorious when I first came to Steem, the @berniesanders upvote was an honour to receive, but today you have a negative 19 reputation, which makes me feel sad. Please be great again Bernie, you inspired me once, there is a whole community that needs a positive influence and you can be that again. I remember you as @silversteem too, I didn't know you were the same person; you gave me encouragement in your brief replies to me when I was still a minnow. Come speak to me on Discord, take a load off and shed the anger, I extend my hand of friendship to you again if you want it.
Regarding the Steemvoter payment votes, our customers have a choice to pay a mere $3 per month for a full feature account without the requirement to lend us a vote for payment, this is a small amount and one of the cheapest services you can buy on the internet, even cheaper than the smallest hosting packages, but still most customers prefer to pay by vote, which is I suppose a natural way of tipping on Steem so is totally acceptable. Streemian is no longer maintained most likely because it wasn't profitable without our voting type revenue model and held no interest any longer to its owners, we aim to remain profitable as any business would, and there is nothing wrong with that.
I do agree with you that there is no need for us to be on the front page every time we do an announcement post, only the last few have gone to $200, I think because some premium services on the bigger accounts expired and haven't been renewed so their votes are being used again. I have arranged for us to adjust our vote percentage to reduce our overall position on trending. Please note also that @minnowbooster announcement posts are 100% powerup and essentially can be treated as a temporary burn of Steem because we do not cash out of Steem.
I won't be engaging in long arguments but as mentioned would very much like you to find happiness and peace and one day I hope you and I and everyone on Steem can be good friends.
Namaste and God bless.
Excuse me...what is this BS? You had absolutely NOTHING to do with my "visibility and fame." Do not include me in this nonsense. Yes, at one point I wrote a few posts for SteemSports, but that had no discernible impact on my "popularity" on this platform.
If you want to take credit for something, take credit for fooling the community into believing that SteemSports was going to be an actual sports betting platform after you were given tons of money and a high reputation...for ultimately producing nothing. You then "bought out" Steemvoter (by begging for whale votes on your multiple "Help me buy Steemvoter!" posts) and leveraged your undeserved reputation into additional support for your various voting scams/schemes thereafter.
It's bad enough that you pretend to be creating viable "businesses" by selling votes and being a delegation sales facilitator, but now you want to try to take credit for my relative success? What's with you and your "employees?" Is there not a single honest person among you?
No, there is not.
Steemsports would have been great, if it wasn’t trolled, we had an app, you know that. Trolling destroys progress which is a big issue on Steem atm.
You’re blaming “trolling” for not developing a website/interface that you had somewhat operational for a month or so? Are you serious?
Was it the “trolls’” fault that the site was clunky or that nobody knew about it? Were the “trolls” responsible for development and marketing? Do you realize how ridiculous that excuse sounds?
And if you can be so easily derailed, why should the users of this platform continue sending you their money? What does that say about you and your team as “businessmen” and “developers?” If some “trolls” can kill your business plans, perhaps the plans weren’t very good in the first place? Or maybe there was never any intent to follow through?
I’m just asking questions. A lot of money was given to SteemSports. And now even more money is being given to Steemvoter, Minnowbooster, and Buildteam. And what is there to show for all of it? Vote-selling and some automated voting scripts?
The website was fully operational, and you are correct there is more to it than trolling, I was in a rush and gave an "off the cuff" answer.
Yes to start with the then development team and our past CTO were quite demoralised from all the trolling and lack of participation on our platform, we realised Steem is a limited market for sportsbetting with the current community size and users prefer paying with votes instead of SBD or Steem, which is understandable given the nature of Steem and why Streemian probably is no longer properly maintained.
Then the HF happened to increase payouts to 7 days instead of 24 hours, our then CTO didn't have the drive to recode the whole system to suit the new blockchain, the Steem price was low then too and he decided to move on to other things and we parted ways.
I haven't given up on Steemsports but believe it should take the publishing angle rather than betting which can bring legal issues with it. We are working on something that we should be able to release next month, it should be pretty cool.
Our current team is really good, the Minnowbooster code is really complex and is likely the most advanced upvote bot on Steem, especially with the ability to allow anyone to become a bot and the delegation leasing market is unique concept as well.
The BUILDTEAM coin is cool as well, we are working on a POS model that will simulate the vesting features of SMT's.
Steemvoter is being overhauled from the ground up in a better coding language and will be available soon as well with Streemian features and more.
We have a great mix of devs, designers and writers, all are really nice people and we build only on Steem because we believe in it. Almost everything I ever earned on Steem is in my personal account and is not all that much, you have done well for yourself as well, your account is quite sizable too. There are plenty of users out there with massive accounts from ninja-mining and sockpuppetry and other such carry on.
Anyways we have a few other projects in the pipeline as well, lots of interesting and engaging things coming.
I don't have anything against you, we were on the same team once and I'm glad you have succeeded, there is nothing wrong with that.
I continue to wish you well and hope you will reconsider your view of me in time.
Namaste and go fuck yourself scammy trash. There was no threat, merely a promise. Enjoy the fun, soon you won’t have a single post that even sees the light of day.
Is this going to be opt-in or opt-out for your “members?”
Also - why do you continue using “member” votes on your posts here when you have paid subscriptions and other revenue models via your various vote and delegation selling? I think it’s time that you reconsider socializing your costs and simply further lining your pockets with the limited rewards pool. With the high fees that you charge for your voting/delegation “services,” and apparently with such high demand, you don’t need to continue this practice.
I think you are mixing steemvoter and minnowbooster here? Obviously selling your vote is opt-in.
I am happy to discuss with you on how to improve the current situation.
Steemvoter and Minnowbooster use the same votes on their “daily upvote” posts - because it’s the same person behind all of these “businesses.”
But you know this.
Well but that is different from sell your vote. I thought you accused us of selling the votes of steemvoter users???
And yes this is a steemvoter subscription post as stated in the footer. We can discuss about your concerns, once we got the terminology right :)
The terminology hasn’t changed since January/February when myself and others brought this up to Ricardo. It’s more of the same BS. You guys have actual revenue models - and the cuts that you take are not small. I think it might be time to stop socializing your costs via the reward pool on essentially repetitive content.
Since business is booming, why continue this...unless it’s just because you can? You claim to “boost minnows” while simultaneously taking from the limited pool as much as you can on a daily basis. Add the costs of vote-purchasing and delegation renting, plus the stake-vote dilution with the many voting and delegation schemes, and it’s kind of hard to see any “boosts” for minnows as a whole at all.
Not that all minnows necessarily need “boosting” in the first place.
This is mixing multiple concepts. There is the SV vote on announcements and there is minnowbooster.
The SV vote is something we can probably fade out. The visibility it gives is no longer needed all that much.
The minnowbooster model is something that sprung a lot of discussion the last week and I'd love to read a post about it, if you have the time to write down your opinions. The steem community needs to look for a consensus there.
Hey look, you're dodging questions. This is what Steemtrails did when confronted with this question - dodged it. Totally didnt address the issue of crazy-high self-voting, just kept trying to up spin everything to try and deflect. Who was that? Instructor2121?
I’m not talking about the “new model.” The only reference I made to that was regarding the opt-in.
I’m talking about using the votes of your Steemvoter sign-ups to upvote your SV, MB, and BuildTeam posts. Stop attempting to make it seem as if I’m the one conflating things here. I know the difference between the services and the voting schemes. And this isn’t our first interaction about this very topic.
Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ...
Are all of you on this “team” shady/dishonest/disingenuous?
I'll probably get slamafied, but thank you for those comments. Personally I have muted most of the minnowboost (boasting) bots. But this is steemit, and there really are not many rules. People can sit around and watch the rewards pool be raped, or they can try to do something about it. I view your conversation as trying to do something about it. So thank you. I would give an upvote, but I am trying to conserve rebuild to upvote the content I truly enjoy. My apologies.
We'll try it the next post without the SV vote.
I am leasing my SP to you and getting nothing. Delegating 150SP and today I got 0.008 SBD. Is that a joke....
Hi, the @minnowbooster account hasn't really voted today and when it does you will receive a prorata share of the revenue, but the account has so much delegation that your 150 SP will get a very small prorata share. I suggest rather undelegate and register yourself as a bot or create another account and delegate to it and register it to allow us to sell its vote.
You can also try find some open orders of that size on our delegation market to fill, that will give you a stable return.
yes, I got it. didn't think that way before. Open orders would do too. I don't know if being a bot is a good thing for me, as sometimes there are many errors to fix, and you get negative comments why something was not paid in time.... I think I'm not really ready for this
how to undelegate steem power? Please could you explain
It is same as delegation. Just give the SP as 0.
Thanks
Hi @ats-david, hope you are doing well. Each service @steemvoter and @minnowbooster have their own profit centres, we treat each as a profitable business which provide income backed revenue for BUILDTEAM token holders, in December we release our simulated vesting feature to our Bitshares token, with a 90 day powerdown script, simulating what our token will be like as an SMT in future.
It is our duty to remain profitable and ensure that our token performs and is a credit to the Bitshares ecosystem, to our team and to Steem SMT's in future.
I also wish to clarify that Minnowbooster and Steemvoter have different customer databases and are not mixed, Minnowbooster customers don't get used in the Steemvoter upvote posts which is what we use to promote announcements across our various projects. I hope that clarifies.
You won’t be profitable very soon!!!
Seems fair. I don't really have a problem waiting till i have 11 sbd saved up though. Just takes a while.
I will have to check minnowbooster website but last time I checked most minnows were capped at 5SBD. My new daily limit say 0.4 and they don't cover that amount :(
Thanks for the update and its amazing. you have increased daily and weakly limit.
thanks alot @minnowbooster .
i started using your service and its amazing. keep it up thanks
Hi friend
hey !!
Pleasure, thanks for the great feedback. Also check our latest vote availability graph it's looking nice and healthy but with the crazy demand we have it will be depleted soon.
Any and all vote sellers are welcome to help serve the demand and earn good returns at the same time.
Thanks your your concern ! i know about the graph and now there is no gap in the graph. like yesterday you can get upvote of less then $0.07 and greater then $12. it was so irritating . but thanks for there update.
Thank you for sharing...upvoted and followed!
I wish I can help. I too was unable to use minnowbooster. I want the supply vote to be around $3-$7 but this is not possible now. The plea for the vote lease also does not attract enough. This is due to the large minnows here.
We tweaked some settings and we have a full vote range, but will be depleted very soon... we had an internal chuckle that it's like Black Friday with the crazy demand we are getting, not a bad problem to have I guess.
That's about to end real soon for you!
It's a headache you want.
Yes!
You could create some aditional accounts and delegate some power for the medium size votes.
Yes we want to do that, we just need to code it so those accounts will give a return to the investor. The temporary stopgap is than an investor can create an account himself, delegate however much he wants to it and then register it on our bot market. I have done that with @kamikaze and @steemdrive, those are my personal bots.
I really enjoy your minnowbooster service! Thanks for all your hard work to boost this minnow!
Why has no one mentioned yet that minnowbooster ain't working atm? No upvotes been made since this announcement came.
Thank you for pointing that out @cleverbot I was reading through the post and I was thinking to myself didn't the post say basically for minnows it is over for now? They are focusing in on their "whitelist" and all we can do is sell our upvotes and use other services atm. Isn't it the gist of this post? Correct me if I am wrong. I have been using minnowbooster service to help build SP and I also allow them to use my vote so I hope everything gets cleared up.
Ahhhhhh are you sure? Because I've disconnected your phone service.
Actually this comment was addressed to the issue they had when the post was just made, not being able to use any upvotes at all from minnowbooster itself (except for a few smaller vote values from the selling services). As I understand, the gist of this post is ment towards people selling their votes for people that dont have the money to buy higher votes, cause minnowbooster itself can't provide it due too such high SP.
Sounds scary
Very, lol. Seems they raised it to 20sbd (daily limit) to fix it temporary.
Minnowbooster can resolve this by repleace the SP deligated to it and ask only for the usage of 'sell your vote' option!
