THE MINNOW-WHALE DISPARITY
in the one week i've spent here on steemit, i've learnt a lot. but what caught my eye mostly was the disparity in earnings of minnows compared to whales.
so i did a little research, and it turned out that most whales opened their accounts sometime in 2016, so a year of blogging experience coupled with the effect of HF19 which led to the rise in their voting power, made them stand out as steemit favourite sons
another class of people, which i happen to belong to is called the minnows. they are essentially newbies, with little reputation, little or no voting power and no experience. my friend who introduced me to steemit @molokwu told me how frustrating it could be to spend hours drafting a post and at the end make nothing on it meanwhile a whale could simply post a picture and make over a $100.
my first time experiencing this was my introduction post which didnt even make up to a dollar.
so the question is, is there any means or channel of helping or encouraging newbies or do we have to keep trying our luck?
