Beware the scammers lurking around steemit: Be informed
Some hours ago, I was reading articles and I realized something has been happening on steemit.
The aim is to sensitize not to create panic.
Some nefarious individuals who refused to work hard like everyone else, but believe in robbing individuals of their hard earned rewards are now lurking around on steemit.
What to look out for
- Suspicious chats telling you to review your account
- Messages that will involve your username and passkey
- Sites and links not directly affiliated to steemit
- Messages that encourage unnecessary secrecy
- Messages that come from multiple accounts with the same agenda
- Accounts that suddenly become unresponsive
- Articles not verified on steemit
- Comments not from cheetah or steemcleaners or pfunk telling you about you committing plagiarism, especially if the account reputation score and followership seems shady
What to do?
- Remain calm
- Buy enough time
- Report to steemians like @acidyo, @pfunk, @firepower (those are the three I know) or any witness
- Never disclose your password to anyone
- Inform members of your group if you belong to any
- Don't open any unverified link
- Ask questions if in doubt
- If you feel your account has been compromised, please request a new password or ask the people I listed for help
- Never drop your password in a memo
- Try to keep your password to only yourself
Always remember, no one will ask you for your password on steemit, and if in doubt, ask questions.
DON'T BE A VICTIM!

Ending note: Thanks for all your wishes today on my mum's birthday today, I deeply appreciate it.
From a steemian that cares, pass the message.
