Everyday, we come across unlikely events, like receiving a text while thinking of a person, meeting someone we haven't seen in years in the most unexpected place, and we think, is it a miracle? Or is it we are connected to the person? Like Persi Diaconis said : "The really unsual day would be one where nothing unusual happens". What does it mean is that the unlikely events keep on happening, to every single one of us, why? It's because of the Improbabilty Principle, let's say that some event is rare, so it happens one in a million, if we suppose that the event is one second long and we are awake twelve hours a day, that event is likely to happen once a month.
An example of improbable events is from the book Synchronicity, by the psychoanalyst Carl Jung, as he writes : "The writer Wilhelm von Scholz … tells the story of a mother who took a photograph of her small son in the Black Forest. She left the film to be developed in Strassburg. But, owing to the outbreak of war, she was unable to fetch it and gave it up for lost. In 1916 she bought a film in Frankfurt in order to take a photograph of her daughter, who had been born in the meantime. When the film was developed, it was found to be doubly exposed: the picture underneath was the photograph she had taken of her son in 1914! The old film had not been developed and had somehow got into circulation again among the new films.". Other examples exists like man stroken several times by thunder, a woman winnig the lottery more than once and so and so.
Looking at this example, the human mind try to explain things differently, saying maybe there is a greater force controling these events or that what happened is destiny, but as we take a closer look at the events, it becomes more clear that it is not the case, for example Roy Sullivan, a man hit by lightning-strike seven times, at a first glance, one may say he is cursed, but the man in question is a pack ranger so he is often outdoors and at places where lightning-strike happens.
So, as a conclusion, one must imagine the number of propabilities and take in consideration the Law Of Large Numbers, by than, everything becomes possible, even wining the lottery several time.
