V for Vanished III - Profiles of Missing Teens Disappearing from the NCMEC Website

This is another follow up post to V for Vanished – Virginia’s Missing Children (2017) where we explored the alarming rates of missing children in the state of Virginia.

Data from 2016 and 2017 show that Virginia has an extremely high rate per 100,000, surpassing the rates for states with much larger populations such as California and New York.

While manually recording the numbers of missing children in Virginia for 2017, over the course of one month, I noticed that many of the profiles were disappearing from the Virginia page.

This post focuses on profiles that were featured on the NCMEC official website that have now completely disappeared from the listings.

Lost and Found?

There are a number of profiles that were counted while compiling the list of missing in Virginia for 2017 that have since disappeared from the NCMEC website.

Although I thought this to be odd, I rationalized that a number of the missing children had probably returned home.

Yet, if this were the case wouldn’t there be some kind of announcement celebrating their return? I didn’t find any such announcements on the website but I also decided to scan their Twitter page as well.

Similarly, there were no Tweets announcing the safe return of any missing children from Virginia. There were, however, half a dozen Missing Child Recovered announcements from Texas, North Carolina, Missouri, Alabama and New Mexico.

Missing Profile

39 profiles disappeared/removed from NCMEC website

37 of 39 profiles disappeared/removed from NCMEC website are female

19 of 39 profiles from Norfolk/Virginia Beach region

19 of 39 profiles "No Photo Submitted by Investigative Agency"

National Center for Missing Exploited Children.png

There has to be some kind of mistake here, right?

How's it possible that this many profiles have been removed in the last month and a half with NO indication that any of these teens have been found or returned to their families or homes?

Why are there so many missing children without a photograph?

Which Investigative Agencies are not submitting photos, and for what reasons?

From the NCMEC's own website:

Picture Them Home® is the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children®'s ongoing campaign to raise awareness about the power of photos and their importance in the search for missing children. Because photos have such a vital role in the search for missing children, it is NCMEC's goal to distribute posters to as broad an audience as possible.

The familiar saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" is proven true time and again by the return of missing children who have been identified through this campaign.

Searching Names

Searching for the names of the missing teens who have had their profiles removed does give some returns to the NCMEC's own website. However, the links are either dead or we received a Page Not Found notice. When the links to the NCMEC do work those it takes you to the main Virginia profile page BUT the profiles no longer appear on the page.

Furthermore, including "found" in the search query does not bring up any results that would indicate that these individuals have in fact been located.

Discrepancies / Inaccuracies

Along with the disappearance of profiles there are profiles that disappear and reappear with conflicting information. Most notably, the date the child goes missing changes. Sometimes the dates are weeks apart and other times months apart.

What Does This Tell US?

A very disturbing picture has emerged form the 2017 data collected from Virginia's missing children profiles.

  • Rates per 100,000 are extremely high in Virginia (2016 & 2017)
  • The Norfolk / Virginia Beach region appears to be the epicenter of missing children in VA
  • DHS / ICE / Authorities recognize that the region is a hotbed for human trafficking
  • African Americans seem to make up a disproportional number of the missing
  • Teenage girls ages 15-17 are high risk
  • The number of missing Virginian children / teens in October is off the charts.
  • Investigative Agencies are not providing photos of missing children to the public (particularly in VA)
  • Young attractive teenagers appear to be targeted
  • Profiles of the missing are disappearing from the NCMEC's website
  • Since dozens of profiles are disappearing from the website, the total amount of missing children is distorted/inaccurate
  • There are no Amber Alerts issued for the alarming number of children reported missing in VA

Wow truly epic post, thanks for compiling this data, I will send credit your way when I cover this article.

Thank you @titusfrost, i would encourage others to look at the ncmec profile pages for changes and anomalies.

Though I didn't really touch on it in this post, it seems that the total numbers in Virginia are being suppressed/fudged/distorted. If this is true, what does that mean for the other states, are profiles being removed from those pages as well?

There could be some legitimate reasons for the profiles being removed like: false reporting and children that have returned home.
BUT, if that's the case why do they not notify the public that these kids have come home safely?
Wouldn't this be an ideal way to promote the good work done at the ncmec? I don't get it.

Even if there's some rational explanation it still doesn't explain the extremely high rates of missing children in Virginia overall (see part 1).

Thanks for the resteem and for your continuing efforts in this field

This has chilled me right to the bone. I have tears in my eyes. Thank you for doing this valuable research @v4vapid, I'm so grateful to you for putting this on the blockchain where it cannot be tampered with. Of course I have the worst feelings about what is happening to the missing :'( :'( You are holding the NCMEC accountable! I want to hear their answers to your questions.

The ncmec needs to be more forthcoming in providing comprehensive information and statistics to the public. They boast of integrating their advanced data analytics tools from both Google and Palantir and yet they cannot provide the most basic information. It's a fucking joke.
When I discovered that so many profiles were going missing, I was dumbstruck.I would also like to hear them explain how this happens, specifically what happened to these 39 individuals. Did they come home or not?

Excellent research. Kudos to you for doing the work and holding them accountable! Far too often we trust what we see, but nobody digs any deeper. You dig and for that I AM grateful! Bravo to you.

This is a deep DEEP problem and one I've been watching for many years. Since about 1993 in fact. There is quite a connection between missing children, Child Protective Services, family court AND the welfare agencies. At least in the one state where I worked.

What I have concluded is that many of these "missing children" were in families that qualified for public assistance. In my thinking, this is because these are the families that have the least ability to afford lawyers, investigators and money to fight the system and to EXPOSE the system.

There are children in foster care that have simply disappeared, (case records and all). So it stands to reason that those sitting in these "perceived" seats of power will simply alter the statistics and remove what is necessary to save face (and prosecution).

The high number of missing children will add funding to continue their supposed "high value" work pretending to search for these same missing children. But when it all plays out, they have received their federal dollars and they are starting to be exposed as potential "exploiters of children" they simply shift gears and downsize the statistics accordingly.

If this process was all above board you can bet your life on it that it would be all over the news about how great the work they've done in finding these "lost" children because this would show the "need" in continuing their efforts and the "need" for more funding to do their "excellent" work. Would be interesting to see their response to a FOIA request wouldn't it?

Here is a pretty good overview of Palantir's capabilities if anyone is unfamiliar with it:
https://theintercept.com/2017/02/22/how-peter-thiels-palantir-helped-the-nsa-spy-on-the-whole-world/

Needless to say, the kind of inconsistencies shown here can not be chalked off as incompetent errors. Something fishy is going on.

Thanks for the link, it is important that people realize just how powerful this software really is. With this kind of data analytics, it really is hard to believe they can be this incompetent.

Absolutely, where are they??!

I'm sharing this article around the web.

Good grief mate, seeing the faces makes it all so real.
So many families devestated and I would suggest many of them forever. When are the authorities going to get off their arses and do something about this dreadful situation? The child sex trafficking is getting more press and behind the scenes arrests are supposed to be going on, however it's not enough. The world should be up in arms considering the numbers and the fact that the US is supposed to be a civilised country.
Great work bringing this to the attention of Steemit and putting it in the blockchain so it can never ever be denied.
Resteemed buddy, the more folks that see this the better.
EDIT, I just saw your transfer. Thanks a lot dude, glad you liked it.

Have you tried reverse searching any of the missing kids pictures? Might turn up something. Also maybe it's worth emailing the Missing kids org and ask for a reply to your research.

No, I haven't. I think you're right and it's worth a shot. I'll give it a go, however the photos are my own screenshots so perhaps i'd have to re-edit the screens and then see if it gives any results. Before contacting the ncmec I want to be certain of my findings.

Jeezuz, the f*ck man... Do you remember that girl they found naked and strangled on the property of Buckingham Palace years ago? After 2 days of reporting, nothing else was mentioned and to this day... still nothing. Its as if she 'almost' escaped, but...

Yeah, I do vaguely remember that, probably shows how effective they are at covering up these kinds of things.

Was the naked man climbing out the window at Buckingham Palace real or some kind of hoax?

To see these poor children and to look at their profiles really brings it home. Equally not being able to look at many of the pictures in these profiles raises both suspicion and a multitude of questions. Once again I commend your diligence in putting all this information together, I know how long it must have taken you! Whilst many profiles appear to be disappearing to have these childrens names and faces held in perpetuity within the blockchain gives them all some much needed exposure!

Equally it exposes that there is something profoundly wrong within this system. If google has deepmind plus (alongside palantir) world leading analytic technology and facebook has military grade facial recognition capabilities then what the hell is happening? I think I'll leave that question hanging so people can draw there own conclusions!

Thanks again @v4vapid you have my utmost respect for all the work you've put into this!

I've been extremely suspicious of these people since The Honeybee started linking them to the Podesta family late last year, or early this year.

This is some scary ass shit. Having lived in a relatively safe country for the last few years, I have become a be naive to this situation and it is refreshing(in a sick and twisted way) to be reminded that the human trafficking industry and exploitation industry is big and powerful. The question becomes, who can you trust, who has been paid off and what is actually happening to the victims. This sounds like a story that could take years of work to get to the bottom of. Thanks for bringing it to the publics attention

It seems to me this kind of information should be put on the Steem blockchain.

Yes, this is one of the main motivations of this series, to document the findings on the blockchain.

Congratulations @v4vapid! You have received a personal award!
