Missing Alert: Alissa Turney
I've recently came across a Youtube video that needs more exposure.
Alright, let's talk about it, because I have so many thoughts on it.
Alissa Turney
Born on April 04, 1984 in Phoenix, AZ.
Her mother Barbara married a man named Michael Turney when Alissa was only 3 years old. This is Alissa's stepfather. Mike Turney had 3 kids from his previous marriage, and Barbara had 2. Together Mike and Barbara had Sarah Turney. All together there is a total of 6 kids. In the early 1990s, Barbara died from lung cancer, at the time Alissa was only 9 years old, and this left only Mike to care for Alissa and Sarah. I'm assuming the older kids either lived with their other parent, or were old enough to live on their own. It's important to note that Mike was a Deputy in the 1970s.
Alissa was referred to as the "wild child", because she did typical teenage things. When I say typical teenage things, I mean just that, she went to parties, hung out with friends, and skipped classes. To me that sounds like almost everyone in high school, it's nothing new. From a parent's perspective, I can't say much because I don't have kids, but I imagine two teens would be difficult to take care of.
Alissa's past with Mike brings up a lot of unanswered questions. Mike treated Sarah a lot better than he treated Alissa. Sarah goes as far as saying that she was a total daddy's girl compared to Alissa. I believe because he may have thought that Alissa wasn't really his daughter since she had no blood of his, so she didn't matter as much. There's a lot of speculation that Mike was sexually abusing Alissa. There's even video evidence of Alissa calling him a pervert. I believe this claim because from what I said earlier he doesn't see her as his daughter, and could've resulting her getting molested by Mike. This rumor came about because Mike was very strict with Alissa. He would go through her belongings, he would check in at her job to make sure she was there, monitor her phone calls. Keep in mind that this was nothing alike to Sarah's relationship with her father. Mike would not hover over Sarah, and would leave her do as she wanted.
Alissa Turney was last seen on May 17, 2001 by Mike who had picked her up early from school. There was no reason given as to why he had picked her up early he just said he did and it was left at that. According to Mike, they went to lunch and had a pretty heated argument about her curfew. Honestly, knowing what I know about Mike this sounds like a load of BS. After lunch, they reached home and Alissa stormed out of the car still fuming about the fight. Mike then goes on to pick Sarah up from her friend's house. According to Sarah, Mike seemed frantic that Alissa wasn't picking up her phone, which to her seemed nothing out of the ordinary because he was always frantic when it came to Alissa. Mike then asks Sarah to call Alissa, and she does repeatedly, but still no answer. As soon as they reach home, Sarah goes straights to Alissa's room noticing makeup, hairbrush, and keys thrown on the floor. Her cellphone was in a drawer, and a note written by Alissa, on her own desk.
What is strange about this is that Alissa had been working at Jack in the Box, and was able to save about $1,800, but none was cleared out that day. Wouldn't a runaway take all the money they could possibly need? She also had a boyfriend at the time who had no clue she had runaway, but did say that Alissa once told him that she was sexually assaulted by Mike when she was younger. I see that as Alissa having complete trust in her boyfriend, so why not tell him about wanting to leave to California? Another point, Alissa had plans to show up to a friends party, which she never attended. If it was me I would have packed my bag, gone to my friend's party, and then dipped. If they had asked me any questions about my bag, I would lie and said I was going to spend the night. Alissa never got to the party meaning she went missing before with just a backpack on her.
Due to the note Alissa had written about leaving to California, when Mike reported her as a missing person, no investigation was made, and no search was made either. A week later, according to Mike a call from Alissa was made to her house, and apparently she was pissed, and was cussing him out until she hung up. Apparently, Mike called the police and asked if the phone number could be traced and the said no. After this he went to go check all the pay phones in Phoenix, AZ. You can't see me, but I'm rolling my eyes at the lies. The phone call was later traced back to Riverside County, California.
In 2006, Thomas Himer, a man from Florida confessed to killing Alissa Turney. He also confessed to killing Jacey Lee Dugard, who is still alive today. It was only until 2008 that police began to take Alissa's case seriously. Thomas claims he met Alissa at a hotel in Phoenix, and that she was a heroin addict. A polygraph test was taken, and Thomas didn't do well. Detectives decided that the claims weren't true, and deemed him not credible. Detectives on the case found out that Mike was recording his daughters, and asked him why he didn't have the recordings of the day Alissa went missing.
According to Mike when he was asked by the detectives he told them no because he had cleared them himself and nothing was of importance. There was also no recordings of the phone call Alissa had made at 1am, why? Everyone in the family had also accepted to do interviews with the detectives besides Mike, why?
There is so much more details I have left out because I don't want to make this post too long. A petition was made to have the case looked at and given a fair trial. I'll leave the video link down below.
Please sign the petition,
