Crypto lottery lunched - make tickets by minting Monero in browser
Stumbled on this (first?) crypto-lottery and sharing it with you:
The basic idea would be that they mine Monero in your browser and for each minute you stay on the page you get a number of lottery tickets - I guess depending on the power of your rig. They give 1 prize of $100 every hour - that means a lot of users mining to be a profitable endeavor.
It seems the site uses the same coinhive notorious JavaScript miner use by PirateBay and Showtime.
Some questions come to mind:
- Is it a legit thing, a scam or publicity stunt for the other service they seem to run - a watch ads to get money android app?
- Can someone confirm that is the first crypto-currency backed lottery?
- Do you know of similar mine-for-some-other-reward schemes?
