Is Bitcoin Becoming A Safe Haven Asset? steemCreated with Sketch.

Hey JessBTC

I've been a Bitcoin HODLr for over three years now, and in that time, it has taken me down several rabbit holes that I am so thankful for, and I continue to learn every day. Bitcoin has given me more of an education than any of the 16 years I spend in the schooling system and has made me quite the anti-establishment type of individual.

Whenever I say I am pro-capitalism or, capitalist people will scream their heads off at me at how unfair the system is and that I am contradictory. But as those who are socialist believe in the fundamental principles if only they were executed correctly could bring about prosperity, capitalism has the same issue. I feel both structures have their merits and their place in the world, but we as humans are so extremist and tribalistic we cannot see the benefits in one when we support the other.

Fiat is toxic

So what we have are nation-states that could never implement these ideals because in both systems they were executed by giving a central authority complete control over the laws, flow and allocation of capital and the distribution thereof.

When we do this, we cannot expect the individual to act against their self-interest, and in socialist, communist and capitalist states we see people able to enrich themselves by the flick of a switch so to speak.

Fiat by design doesn't give an individual choice, where you are born the currency you use, and when you force a decision on someone you take away their rights, fiat by name is a value by decree. Fiat is tied to the central authority from which it is created and while those in developed nations may not feel the changes us in the developing world feel it each time the government cocks something up.

Fiat is a tool, and it has been misused and mismanaged by those who own the printing press while the working economy provides the actual value to these pieces of paper. Until Bitcoin, there was no way out, but now the working man has a way out.

The salvation for those who abandon the nation

While my disillusioned with nation-states an extreme I think its time that we start to exercise our choice to save and earn in any currency we want. If BTC isn't good money, the market will reflect it, and we would flock back to fiat as soon as we've been burned. What better way to punish us crypto know it alls then by letting us burn our fingers?

Fiat has only gone on this long because it's the only game in town, it was helpful to a point, but we have since outgrown it as a society, and it now needs a counterbalance to keep it in check. We now move into a world where individuals can choose between public and private money, and I think that's what we should all be striving for as cryptocurrency owners.

To have to systems that flow between one another and if need be, if faced with oppression, we can always run to our safe haven agnostic to political or geopolitical interests. Instead of trying to bash fiat as I do, bash politicians like I do, bash governments like I do, make a decision with your purchasing power and vote with your wealth.

Keeping your money out of their reach will help keep a lot more institutions honest as they would have to provide value for you to bring it back into the system.

Democracy is no longer a vote for freedom, buying Bitcoin is!

Have your say

Safe haven so long as banks or government keep their controls off it.

I feel like they’re too arrogant and don’t understand the tech to want to play in this space they will only get rekt and even if they did we have so many options now it would be impossible to take down and as the network effects keep growing they lose the ability to influence even more

For me steem is a safe haven asset :)

If you bought in at 12 cents or earned all your steem I would say that it could surly be a safe haven asset because you've only seen upside

That is a big if, most of the people are down including myself on steem.
