Effect Of Money
I'm a steemian just for 3 days and following steemit for only 1 week, so I'm very new here. However, I spent most of my time here since I jumped inside for the first time. I have seen hundreds of post, read thousands of comments and there is one thing that I can conclude about the community; everyone is so fucking positive!
Maybe it is time to admit, we are all in a relationship of benefit. When you check other social media platforms, you will surely see a lot of people fighting, arguing. Try to find someone who are arguing in this site, but let me warn you, it will not be easy. I'm not sure whether it's good or bad. Maybe we should focus on consequences, no negativity at all. Everyone is very nice to each other, but we all know most of them just seem nice. If anyone makes a negative comment, may get flagged. Is it worth to take the risk of getting flagged? I may get flagged because of this post as well, and that would not be a good start for me. But I take that risk. To be honest, only difference between this platform and the other social media platforms is the fact that we are making money. The affect of this SMALL difference is to change the whole community. To make more money, we are being hypocrite.
Actually this situation reminds me one of the Black Mirror episodes, which everyone is rating each other. This platform is something like simulation of that kind of world for me. The idea under this web site is perfect only when it's applied perfectly.
It's hard to keep quality high if people's main purpose is just money here. It is why making original contests is important. Once we lose this aim, steem is going to be like fb, instagram or something else. I hope it won't happen some day.
I agree with you, I am actually complaining about the fact that people need a trigger to be nice to each other, and the main concept of this web site is to earn money by creating original contents. Since people need each other much more than other social media platforms, everyone is very careful and most of the users do not act like they actually are. There are so many garbage posts especially in tr, but no negative comment at all. I even saw the Ozdilek AVM travel photos of an user, like come on man. This should not be upvoted. That's my point.
As what I remembered, this is how youtube was before (also according to testimonies of early youtubers). I hope the community can maintain this kind of culture. #newbiehere
