Profit! Profit! Profit!

Why is it that obtaining profit is always prompted whenever we do something? People would naturally look down on people who rarely make profit. We’ve reduced ourselves to a mere money-making machine.

This world has become a place of business of which the chief goal is to make money or profit. And for what? Why do we constantly need to have money? To buy stuff we think we need? Probably, that’s how big corporations want people to do. Why? Profit.

Most of the time, if not always, when we do something purely out of sincerity and good intentions, profit seemed to be far off. There’s not much money out of it. Farming is one example, it’s a noble profession and an essential one, but there’s not much money you can gain from it.

But when we do something where we profit a lot, there’s always a catch. When we profit, it’s always at the expense of something else. It could be our values, health, peace of mind, the environment, and etc. It often has a negative impact associated with it. In the long run, it becomes unprofitable. A bad investment.

Why can’t we just work on something with reverence of heart and without stressing over whether we profit from it or not? Why can’t we take our minds off of money?
