Equity Crowdfunding Portal StartEngine Launches Contest to Win $20,000-$40,000 + an Elio Car
Equity crowdfunding portal StartEngine is best known for its successful equity crowdfunding round for Elio Motors (an innovative car company that hopes to sell its 3-wheeled, 84 mpg cars for ~$7,000).
Now StartEngine has launched an exciting contest in which participants can win $20,000 in cash (doubled if you refer an impossible number of people) and an Elio car.
This contest is an effort to market equity crowdfunding offerings, which did not receive the expected attention when the JOBS Act final rules went into affect. Companies can now sell shares to non-accredited individuals, meaning anybody can invest in startups, not just the $1,000,000 net worth upper class. This means that local communities can invest in startups around them and support local job growth while getting a piece of the company in return.
