WHY ARE EDIBLES STRONGER THAN SMOKING?
Hello Steemit users! I've always been wondering why edibles are stronger than smoking and I think I found my answer. Hope you enjoyed this post! Have a nice day!
Edibles have a reputation for being the most powerful method of ingesting cannabis, save for maybe dabs (of course). Apart from the simple fact that you can ingest more at one time, something else is going on when you eat activated extracts or cook with cannabis: A different cannabinoid is formed in your body that makes for an extra-potent high.
A lot of people say you can get higher off of one gram if you orally ingest it than if you smoke it; not only is this is up for debate, but it depends on each individual’s preferences. Some people attribute this to the idea that from oral ingestion “your body absorbs all the THC,” whereas when you smoke flowers a lot of THC gets burnt or otherwise wasted. It is true that combustion wastes a significant amount of active cannabinoids, but surely oral ingestion doesn’t lead you to absorb all of the THC. Not even close to what people think is absorbed actually gets into your bloodstream; in fact, according to a National Institutes of Health study, “oral THC bioavailability is only 6% -10%”. Low water-solubility, degradation in the stomach and pre-metabolism are the culprit for much of the THC passing through your body without giving you the high you’re seeking. So what gives? Why do edibles hit you so hard?
It’s well known that THC needs to be decarboxylated in order for it to do anything in an edible, but something happens metabolically when you eat it that doesn’t happen when you smoke it. About half of orally ingested THC gets turned into 11-hydroxy-THC, a more powerful version of it that has an easier time getting into your brain. When you smoke weed or otherwise inhale its vapors, almost none of this potent 11-hydroxy-THC is formed.
So the next time you get laid out by an edible, just remember, it’s not only THC that’s getting you high. That extra potency is from something different going on.

@blocktrades I totally appreciate what you are doing here, but look at his post history, the last 4 articles were plagiarized.

Haven't bothered to check the post edit history, but by the time I got here it cited a source, which is not plagiarism. Upvoted.
Thanks! I did put the source but they're still put flag on my post for no reason.. I really don't know why they are hating on me like that, I did all they asked. But thanks man, I appreciate it a lot!
Well, looking at your posting history, you have established a pretty bad reputation for plagiarizing content. Always post sources you're quoting from, and preferably provide some original writeup of your own in addition to the link to the source article, even if it's just a summary of the article or highlighting a point you found particularly salient. Copy-pasting the full source text is lazy and kind of a jerk move.
I'm also not sure why this is posted in money. That may be garnering you some downvotes too.
I am pretty new to Steemit so I didn't know all the rules. I sincerely just put articles that interested me. But now I understand clearly the rules and I'll make sure to put sources and comments of my own or intro on each post from now on. Thanks a lot for your help!
Learning from experience and doing better in the future is all we ask. Welcome to the blockchain! :)
@modprobe Thank you! I'm glad to be here :)
Thank you, look forward to reading some of your posts.
Thanks a lot!
I'm not sure @modprobe was clear on this but you need to include short quotes from the article. Do not copy and paste the entire article even if you add your own comments because that hurts Steemit.com search ranking and it is also copyright infringment.
Alright now I get the all point. Thank you for helping me, both of you. I'll make sure to apply all of this to my future posts on Steemit so it doesn't damage anything or anyone. Have a nice day
I'm just trying to share some great informations with everybody. I hope they'll let me do what I do and I'll make sure this is good contents for you.
It wouldn't be fair for you to get rewarded for plagiarism with everybody else being punished.
Copy pasting is not a good way in sharing information. You dont even quote your source!
It would be much better if you made up some thoughts about this, and not just copy paste!
@kevbonneau sharing great info didn't hurt anyone but you could give some credits for your sources (hightimes in this case) or at least have a disclaimer on your posts, something like: I have read a great article here and i was thinking to share it with the community.
Posting other writer's article as being yours it's called plagiarism.
Edit: I am sorry, you have my flag too.
Ok so what you are saying is that if I put the source of my information, you will all take your flag out my post?
As everybody has said now, its just not as easy as putting the sourcelink in the bottom. It would be nice with a disclaimer, some comments and toughts. Not just copy paste the whole thing and putting the link in the bottom
Alright! Get it, I'll improve myself
I always thought that when smoked it enters the blood stream almost instantly, then wares of over a few hours , where as eating is slowly moved through the digestive system over many hours giving much more time to absorb the thc . I once made some fairy cakes with a few friends and 2 hours in we were duck taping the light shades to the ceiling because the light was blinding us....... funny times , woke up the next day just as high as when i went to bed , very strange feeling : )
Hahahaha happened to me too one time with some cakes! Happy you enjoyed the post, have a nice day! :)
More easy in few words :
While make controlled decarboxylation THC to THC-A
with temp 115-150C degree (10-15 mins). You don't burn your THC on fire.
Also after stomach digestive system continue absorb THC what give you in a result more intensive and prolonged effect.
Thank you for the further informations, I'm sure everybody will like to know about this stuff!
I suppose what you know about myrcene.
What increase THC effect to your body.
Yes I do! Thanks a lot :)
cool, I love edibles
Yeah I love them too haha
