Yamana Posts Q1 net loss suggesting it is still the worst mid-tier miner

in #money7 years ago

I sold my shares of yamana long ago. I took a bit of a hit on them too. Management is so ineffective. They are loaded up on debt and had to sell royalties, assets, etc.

"The net loss attributable to Yamana shareholders was $160.1 million, or 17 cents per share. However, Yamana listed $170.2 million in non-cash charges, with the biggest a $174 million (before taxes) non-cash accounting carrying value reduction tied to company’s interest in Brio Gold.
All-in sustaining costs, on a byproduct basis, at Yamana mines fell to $703 from $902 a year ago."

The margin on their product is about 500 dollars an ounce, and they still can't make money.
