Top 7 Social Networks based on the Blockchain that rewards users plus one awesome mention
The race to attract users to a crypto social network that rewards users in beggining to heat up.
Below I will list the top 7 social networks (and a special mention) that I researched to do just that.
They all have features inspired by already existing classical (read: not blockchain-related) social networks,
but they also added some unique twists and reward models.
Here is the top, starting from the last:
7. Nexus
Coin used: Social (SCL)
Website: nexus.social
This website seems to be inspired by facebook. You can post new things, change your status, create or join groups, create or join events, follow people, add friends,
participate in or create polls. It's free to create an account, and they seem to have the most features available so far in a crypto-based social network.
What it still lacks however, and why it's on the last place, is the integration of their coin(SCL) to actually reward posts and overall contributions. But they have that on their roadmap, so definitely check it out if you want to be an early adopter and get a head-start in friends and followers on the platform.
6. Leeroy
Coin used: Ethereum (ETH)
Website: leeroy.io
This is a, not so new, twitter inspired social network where users get rewarded for posting small texts or images.
You have to have the MetaMask plugin installed to contribute, but you can explore the site without it.
You also have to have a little ETH available on your MetaMask to be able to post. This has great potential if they continue developing it.
5. WildSpark
Coin used: Synereo (AMP)
Website: wildspark.me
I have written about this before, WildSpark by Synereo is a new social-network that rewards curating of online videos. Their system already works to send and receive funds (AMP) by curating.
The way it works right now is with a Chrome extension. If you want a detailed post explaining how it works, check my post about them here.
4. Yours
Coin used: Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
Website: yours.org
Yours.org is a social network that rewards creators for their posts and comments. It is twitter-inspired, but it is in the early phase, alpha-beta-ish.
Their system works to send and receive funds for the posts that you make. Also, you can have your post for free and get compensated by tips or you can set a price for a post, and the users will only be able to see your post after they pay the entry fee.
This platform has a lot of potential. I will definitely check them out in the future too and see how they are evolving.
3. Sphere
Coin used: SAT (it's in presale right now, so, you know, if you're interested, give it a try, maybe become a whale, don't forget me if you do ;))
Website: sphere.social (that is my referrer link, but, in case you do not want any of that, here is the normal one )
Steemit account: https://steemit.com/@sphereofficial
You are able to use their Android app to interact with users and make friends. You can find the link on their site, but be aware that the app is still in beta.
They already have more than 100.000 users signed up. You also can have a SAT debit card, to be able to spend your SAT in the real world.
This has a great momentum, time will tell if they can keep it up.
2. YouNow
Coin used: PROPS
Website: younow.com, also propsproject.com
This video streaming site has been around since 2011, but the integration of the crypto-coin PROPS is brand new.
They are developing the integration of the PROPS coin for over a year now, and they plan to launch a new platform called Rize.
They already have more than 100.000 users that will be able to earn and spend the PROPS coin on their new upcoming Rize platform.
1. Steemit
Coin used: STEEM
Website: steemit.com
I know, I know, there is not much sense to include it since I post this article on it, but since it's the most successful from them in terms of users, engagement and rewards.
Not no mention the absolute awesome community, I had to include it in the list.
Annd...I really want to mention:
Utopian
Coin used: STEEM
Website: utopian.io
This brand new site is on the STEEM platform also. It has a category of it's own on Steemit called utopian-io.
What this wonderful site does is, it directly rewards open-source contributions/contributors.
You do not necessarily have to be a developer in order to contribute to open-source.
There are many ways you can contribute to any open-source project like:
- come up with ideas or features for an existing project
- report a bug where something does not work or not as expected or the design is broken
- translate a project, or parts of it in your native language
- create designs or graphics
- document the current functionality or code, create tutorials
- analize a project from different view-points and post your findings
- promote a project and post proof of your work
By doing this, you will get rewarded in STEEM and you get to feel good about yourself because you contributed to open-source projects.
Projects that are free and open for the whole world.

It's pretty awesome being here and knowing about these sites and tech before they've completely blown up. I've been following a few of these for a bit, but I didn't know about all of them. Going to add them to my look-at list so thanks for the heads up. Also really excited to see where SMT's are heading.
Which one of these can provide a steady source of income or to say a site which will worth the time? Nice Post though :)
I do not know the answer to that. Many of these sites are at the beginning. Even steemit is still in beta. I guess time will tell, but it's interesting and uplifting to see that there is growing interest to build social media platforms that reward users. Thank you for your comment :)
Ah I see.... Thanks for you perspective Though! Good Day :P
