Why is it not ideal?

It can be just as bitcoin could have - except that bitcoin didn't listen to the community, and after today security update, I can tell that the steem devs DO listen to their community! And this is what we are right now, just a small community of people bringing hope to the people in a hopeless phase of the worlds economic stability.

I have followed Roger Ver for a long time on twitter, he has been pleading for a blocksize change for over a year now, but no, let the monopol of miners decide, not the people. This will become and already is (with a small delay because of the halving happening) bitcoins undoing. There are neighbours who are new and fresh showing up in much better shape and slowly but securely bite from bitcoins value in % compared to the total of altcoins. The difference is, the neighbours know who to listen to, the people, eachother, while bitcoin is still in the cave mining away and forgot its phone at home. :)

Sorry if the analogy is lame, but steemit will prove what open-source upgradeable blockchain appliances really do.

primarily drawback I see is that Steemit primarily focused on English-speaking environment.
also beginners are very difficult to understand the use of the rules, especially if they do not speak English. many people don't know the nuances that need to know.

Remember we are still only around 30.000 users. And I bet only 80-90% of them are unique ones, with time it will get more balanced. :)

That's not true. The majority speak english now yes, but it doesn't have to restrict itself to only english speaking people.

Look at this post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@fabio/was-ist-steemit

That's the beauty about blockchain, you don't have to limit yourself in any way. I read that the Steemit team are focusing on scalability as well so that's even better!

I have a different opinion. I see posts in Steemit that people do not understand how it works Steemit. such as the Russian-speaking community Steemit extremely small.
I do not speak English. and I translate with the help of a translator. It is very long.
