Capitalist Entitlement

in #money5 years ago (edited)

Having listened to and participated in the endless circle of 'debate' on the topic of capitalism vs non capitalism in the compassionate anarchy group on Facebook (for far too long), I think I have seen most arguments raised for and against capitalism. I really enjoyed this short video on the topic from 'thought slime' on youtube as it gets close to my position...

One of the main claims made by pro capitalists against what they call 'the left' is that 'the left' are 'entitled' and somehow want to take the fruits of other people's labour. In reality, however, I have yet to meet anyone who actually wants to do that - in general, most people are just seeking a greater balance in society, so that millions of people aren't starving, while a few live with wealth that is absurd (and usually doing nothing to improve the situation for others). Arguably, what is needed is for the majority of people to realise the problem and work together to overcome it - however, this requires them to settle their differences, have enough resources to live on a daily basis already and to not get caught up in thought prisons and traps such as state communism and other such 'fun' solutions to the human condition. Generally, the lack of resources and the resulting depression and disease is enough to stop most people.

In truth, 'the left' ACTUALLY refers to 'the left wing', which is a phrase from the French revolution which began when opponents to monarchism sat in the left wing of seats in parliament. So basically, 'left wing' means 'opposed to empire building and artificial hierarchy' and can include a wide array of people with different aims, thoughts and backgrounds. Generally, they have just had enough of being enslaved and are intent on making a difference (hence the guillotines). Unfortunately, we haven't collectively understood yet, on a deep level, the hows and whys of how we create our own enslavement and so we haven't fully solved the problems yet (and neither has France, despite the recent months of riots and protests there).

Anyway, in this video - we find an explanation of why it is really capitalism that is entitled:

Wishing you well,

This point below should be inverted.

One of the main claims made by pro capitalists against what they call 'the left' is that 'the left' are 'entitled' and somehow want to take the fruits of other people's labour

This below is exactly what capitalists do.

take the fruits of other people's labour

Good ideas often get appropriated by Capital to keep the masses baffled.

So true. Particularly in the US these days, they have socialism for the rich, and vicious, free-market capitalism for the middle-class and the poor.

Same as the UK by the sounds of it.

The video here is spelling out various points like that, yes.

Yeah I watched it. Some things never change!

The current incumbent 'left' in the UK has been usurped by tory lites.

I couldn't agree with this more! Thank you so much for always sharing thought provoking content🙏

Communism and socialism use the force of government to take other people's wealth and re-distribute it. Leftists get to hide behind the government to carry out their aims of stealing other peoples' stuff and claim that they "just want to make things better" while they are actually stealing from others.

"Capitalism" done properly allows a free market to discover the prices of goods and services through a process similar to consumers voting using their dollars. If you have a job in which you feel you are "enslaved", you are free to leave it and find a better one. If the government has already told you how to live your life, you are not free to leave.

"Capitalism" means that you can save money and invest it in things that you think are good ideas and, if the markets have the right laws, the business that you invested in pays you back for supporting them.

"Socialism" means that the government (now through the banks) controls the economy. It is not a Democratic process where people vote with their money. Many things are produced that are not needed and there is much waste.

The system in the USA right now is closer to a socialist-controlled economy. In fact, it is controlled. The wealth disparities that are so obvious are caused because people who are in "The Party" get the $$$ while everyone else is a slave. If you haven't noticed, the globalist CEOs and banksters who are making disproportionate salaries are only allowed to do so if they proclaim socialist morals.

The problems we have are coming from socialist authoritarian control, not capitalism.

And under socialism, the people who are stolen from are you and your peers while the wealthy get wealthier. You are never going to get a cent from "the club".

Stop buying at amazon buying kindles. And Ikea and use the money to help the poor.
Why would you ever trade on the amazon platform, there are other platforms, buy kindles (there are bookstores plenty small ones), and buy at ikea ( you could support the small seamstres by letting her make your duvetcover) , when the money lands with Bezos and the like. I don't get it.

Convenience, lack of options, lack of money and lack of awareness - I guess.
