Lunar New Year in Mongolia!!
Let me share what we actually do in our Lunar New Year which is one of the two biggest National Holiday in Mongolia. I can compare Christmas in Western countries with our Lunar year, this is holiday for families to gather together and have a nice dinner and visit all the relatives that you have starting from the oldest ones.
This holiday just happened in our countries between February 15-17. As you might know Mongolia is nomadic country, people in the countryside they don't live in one place rather move around depending on the four seasons to get better place and food for their livestock. We actually have more livestock than the population of Mongolia.

Going back to our Lunar New Year! We celebrate it the first day of spring or just after the last day of our cold harsh winter. It has been noted that here in Mongolia you can feel Antarctica weather in our winter. There was a lot of occasion that our winter temperature went below Antarctica. Ulan Bator is our capital city, it actually should be spelled Ulaanbaatar.
So, herders have a hard time to keep their livestock 'live' during this cold harsh winter. It can take lives of our livestock if things get worse. This is the hardest time for the nomadic herds.
That is why in the end of the winter they celebrate holiday to appreciate that they successfully passed winter since the livestock is the their only wealth. They wanted to share their news with their family, relatives and friends. This is the typical holiday cuisine. In my next post I will write more detailed information about the cousine.
What we wear? It's Deel. Our national clothes made of silk. Everyone in the family wear DEEL. It was short introduction to our national holiday. If I get more than 10 upvotes or if someone interested, I will post more detailed information about it.
Finally, let me entertain you with 2018 collection of GOBI national cashmere, one of the biggest cashmere manufacturer of Mongolia.
