Monochrome Monday – Art Objects and Signs

Up north an old familiar art object suddenly struck me as looking extra, extra colorful. I thought maybe someone had painted it a new color but perhaps it was just the effect of having some unusual weather recently and a certain lack of dreariness.

I had to try it in black and white to see if it would look a bit more normal. It actually looks much better in black and white film emulation in my opinion. I like the way the trees, shadows and lines on the bricks look.

Here’s a color version for comparison. I like the look here too but it looks a lot more different than usual because of the weather and photo processing. I’m not sure who the artist was on the sculpture, maybe next time I’m up that way I will remember to find out.

This nearby sign just made me laugh - I just love the graphics. I had to take a picture of it.

Someone’s picking on the dogs pooping for some reason. If you ask me, the humans are a much bigger problem, especially in some the larger cities farther south. I almost stepped on a huge pile in the middle of the sidewalk once and it wasn’t from a dog.

Anyhow, we certainly wouldn’t want any lawless dogs doing their business here, LOL.

It kind of reminds me of this song for some reason:

(I had nothing to do with producing the video, I’m just linking to it under standard YouTube licensing)

Special thanks to @old-guy-photos for hosting monochromemonday.

In my opinion, it turned out in both cases perfectly. A wonderful song :) Thank you for sharing

Nice to hear from you friend and see you posting again! :)

thank you brother, have a nice day and I will be able to see your new post

Yes agreed the mono version is less stark.

Yes the poor dogs, just doing their thing. It's the humans that are the issue. Look at all the litter humans leave everywhere. How can people just dump their trash outside?!

It is always fun to try out different pictures in mono to see how they come out. Thanks for the feedback.

Oh, the dog pooping really made me laugh. As did the song Signs.

I like the monochrome of the first picture and it actually doesn't even look like the same piece when the color ingredient is added. I like the texture, the shadows and just how peaceful it is on my eyes.

Nice!

Thank you! The color and monochrome versions are shot at different angles, so that might influence things a bit. I agree that it does make for it looking like a different piece. I'm glad you found the dog sign and the song funny.

Oh absolutely! They were hilarious and I'm still laughing just thinking about it. When I went back and looked at the pictures as I was writing oh, I was thinking that perhaps the different angle might influence me but a small part of me believes that that is true but the bigger part of me says it's the color.

I wish you a wonderful day!

The photo looks clean and of high quality, but the black and white photo is more unique and distinct @lightsplasher

unique art objects, what is the background for making this art?
Thanks @lightsplasher for sharing

I don't know that much about it, I just thought it looked nice and took a picture. It is located near a performing arts center at a university.

The first photo seems to be like a memorial for World War II soldiers who died in the Beaches @lightsplasher
Dog poop isn't so bad when done in nature, it is really the humans that should dispose their excrement in a sanitary way.
I see some signs that are meaning and funny at the same time like " It is prohibited to pee in here , are you a dog or (I'll cut your Dick)?" LOL

I think it looks great in Mono, and love how you composed that shot, its cool to see it in Color, but I much prefer the mono version

Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you liked the photos.

My pleasure to visit
