Monochrome Monday - Stuff that grows on trees

I’m not that familiar with trees and the different ways they flower and produce seeds. There are many interesting looking seeds, flowers and fluff on some of the trees around here. It took a couple of pictures using the macro lens on my Galaxy S9+ that I processed using the black and white film emulation in GIMP.

This first picture doesn’t even look like it is from around here if you ask me. It seems more like it was taken in some hot climate. I like the way the sky and background look and the pods on the tree branch are emphasized and looking spiky like a yucca plant.

This version below has a more subdued look. I think the branches are more of the focus and the way they make a cross.

Below is the original picture as it came out of my Galaxy S9+.

Here’s a black and white picture that I found turned out kind of different. I think the scale of the object is tougher to see without the color. The subject gets hard to see and it leaves a bit of a, “what is that?” feel.

It seems like this would not be the best surface to be walking on without shoes from this black and white version.

Below is the original picture as it came out of my Galaxy S9+. With the color you can see better what the picture is of. The details of grass, moss and the red seed like pod that fell off a tree can be seen on the gravel path:

I think it is fun to see how different images come out with different types of processing. Each picture gives a bit of a different feel although the images are the same. Digital processing lets you have a lot more control over trying different things out. There is even some two and three color Kodachrome emulation modes that can give a kind of old fashioned look that I may try next time. If you want, please let me know what you think.

Thanks for reading! I always value your support! Special thanks to @old-guy-photos for hosting monochromemonday.
