About the Shat Gombuj Mosque:

Khan Jahan Ali founded the mosque in 1459. It is one of the oldest mosques in the region. UNESCO has recognized this site as a world heritage site.It is the most impressive Muslim structure in the Indian subcontinent. The mosque has 60 pillars that support 77 square domes. There are four towers on all four sides of the mosque.In the mid-fifteenth century, a holy general, named Khan Jahan Ali, founded a Muslim community in the mangrove forest of Sundarbans, near the coast, in the district of Bagerhat.The mosque is locally known as the 'Masjid Shat Gombuj', which in Bangla means the 60th Dark Mosque. However, there are 77 domes above the main hall and exactly 60 stone pillars

It is located in the district of Bagerhat, in southern Bangladesh, which is located in the Khulna division. The Saith Gunbad mosque is the largest and most magnificent mosque of the Sultanate in Bangladesh and an important pre-Mughal monument of the Indian subcontinent. Built to be the Jami Mosque of Khan al-Azam Ulugh Khan Jahan, General Sultan Nasiruddin Mahmud Shah, probably in his reign during the middle of the fifteenth century CE. The mosque is located on the eastern shore of Ghoradighi, about five kilometers west of the current city of Bagerhat, in the Khulna division, known as Khalifatabad.

The Sixty Dome mosque has unusually thick narrow brick walls in the Tughlaq style and a hut-shaped roof line that anticipates later styles. The length of the mosque is 160 feet and the width is 108 feet.
There are 77 low domes arranged in seven rows of eleven and one dome in each corner, which gives a total of 81 domes. There are four towers
