Perks of being a mother ;-)

One thing i learned in my motherhood journey is that ....there's always sleep problem with kids. I mean it would have been very good if kids came with proper training! What if they came potty-trained, sleep-trained, eating ettiquete-trained etc etc. It would have been so peaceful.....but then again we wouldn't really be called "MOMS". MOM is actually a very beautiful relation which has no synonymatic relation! nothing parallels momhood. That wonderful feeling which comes upon delivering a baby can be compared to nothing...and the instant love that is felt upon seeing for the very first time those tiny hands and feet....those lovely eyes.....satin soft skinned face!! Oh yes you are a mom if you felt it!!! You want to do everything for your baby all by yourself..which also means staying awake all night rocking your baby. image
Now few tips i learned along my journey, which not completely but upto some extent, eradicated the sleep problem are as follows:-
1: Make a sleeping pattern. Create a certain ritual before your baby's sleep. I used to massage my baby with olive oil. The plus points are that it helped in weight gain of my baby as well! Every night my son used to get hyper around the massage hours. I had created a one standard time for the massage! hence massage and baby dozed off.
2: Lullabies....trust me they have worked for me. You dont have to be particular about them. Just sing what you are comfortable with....with the passage of time I got my comfort zone in kids poems "Twinkle Twinkle little stars".image

3: Slow tappings. I used to tap my elder one. Now I endured good three-four days of tantrums. The end result was after a week he used to grab my hand and start tapping himself thus expressing the sleep hours!
4: Night baths. When you give your baby a bath he automatically gets tired. Making it a ritual is a add on.
Now remember each baby is different and unique in his/her own way. You have to find out about your baby what ritual suits the baby. Also just think it too shall pass. You will miss these good ol'days. Good luck with the motherhood. image
