Consistency Is How Experts Are Made

in #motivation7 years ago

My last post was all about starting up. Other thing which is important and differentiates amateurs from experts is consistency. Experts or professionals are more consistent than you think. When you are doing something and you have goals to achieve, consistency gives you the repetition, the power to learn and improve on it.

Professional players in any sport know this. They practice for countless hours learning and improving their game for their moment of glory. Most people would not see what goes into it every day.

You cannot expect to build muscle, lose weight or be good at anything in general without being consistent in your efforts. Yes, sometimes there are exceptions but then those results will not last very long. Exceptions are more or less based on tactics or short term strategy. When you are in for a long term game, you have to be consistent.

You have to repeat things again and again, breaking down the process into smaller chunks and improving on them. There is a very good book by Josh Waitzkin “The Art of Learning” which teaches you how to learn anything and be good at it. You have to break down the process, putting things in smaller circles in order to improve upon them.

Doing things like amateurs will always give you average results. Average is where majority is, this is always the largest group. What takes you in the leagues of top performers or winners is consistency.

Know your goals, break the process down and be consistent in your efforts. Show up daily. This will always give you an edge over the others…

Agreed 100%. I've been a firm believer in consistency for who knows how long. Couple it with hard work and success is assured.

Great post! Upvoted and resteemed.

Consistency! That is so important. We have to be willing to pay the price doing what needs to be done, especially when we don't feel like it. Thank you, gator, for the reminder.

Thanks for posting Terry. @stellabelle is a very good example of this in here.
