Should you contribute just because you want to gain something?

I see a lot of complaints about how people are being rewarded on Steemit, particularly around it bing unfair that great articles are ignored and simple posts are getting all of the attention.

Here is my question.

Why are you writing?

If it's just to get something in return, good luck. You probably won't get a lot out of any of this.

Are rewards nice? Yep. Is making money awesome? Yep. Do I want to be rewarded and make money? YEP!

But...that can't be the mindset you have going into this. To do anything well in life you have to put yourself into it. You have to enjoy putting in the effort and doing the thing. Otherwise, you will always have a chip on your shoulder based off an expectation you have that is not being met by someone or something else.

Most writers I know write because they love to write. They did it for free before they ever made money at it. They love their craft.

Finally, I'm not saying you shouldn't want compensation, just stop complaining. For most of us, rising the ranks here on Steemit, and anywhere else, will not just come. You will have to write consistently and do the work of getting people to go check out your stuff.

Contribution > Complaining

Peace!

I'm not a writer but steemit has made me commentator. I see lots of honest people and i try to add to their content. There I share my thoughts and sometimes I'm awarded. I get few cents here and there. For example today i saw person who was spaming content and I tried to reason with him and he listened. He posted question and I answered, later someone voted up on my answer an I got 75 cents I believe. Was it worh it by how much time i spend here, probablly not. But what makes me happy is when someone doesn't do well in terms of money that he saw that someone red what they wrote and liked it.

Reward system is not fair, there are very good posts with 0.00 and really shitty ones with thousand of dollars
