Steem Motivation #1 - The Job
We need it but wish we didn't do.
Waking up to the sound of the alarms.
It makes the jump from the bed to the floor much easier.
We need these bells, whistles and loud noises to make ourselves aware of our surroundings.
This way, we are not hiding inside our shell anymore.
The sweet smell of being alive comes to us and instantly we are reminded we are back in the same place as before.
It's difficult. No. It...is...exhausting. I get you. It's agonizing.
It doesn't mean we have to keep at it. I once was there. Now I am not. I'm your mirror and you were my reflection.
The clock might be ticking but our minds believe time is infinite. You know time is not infinite. Keep at it and you will be eighty by the time you figure it out. I was there before.
Sometimes it is difficult to comprehend life through the meaning of our job. Our job gives us hope of being a better person.
This is a lie. A simple yet soul-corroding lie. You are not The Job. You are not what your boss thinks of you. You are much better than that. You are a living, breathing, creative machine ready to change the face of the Earth.
Go ahead. Try it. Pick up something with your hands and break it with all the force you have in you. Do it. Break it now. You are not worthless. You are not defined by this. You have the power to change your world.
This is nothing compared with what you are.
Try finishing your book, that draft will not publish itself. Try running a mile or ten miles. Go ahead. Even if you break down tying, you tried and that makes it great. Try it. You can accomplish things outside of your comfort zone. Why? Because you are made for it.
You will not be remembered for the things you have, but for the things you didn't have. Who will remember you? The Job is nothing more than a medium for you to know the world and understand it. It does not give you value. The most incredible people in the world didn't hold a job title, but a lifestyle and that made them great.
Don't make it your life. I repeat, our life is not based on The Job. It is our job to keep us alive. That's one and only job.
