Injured Shaun Simpson healed and confirmed to ride MXGP of Italy!

Good news is flowing this week! Wilvo Yamaha MXGP rider Shaun Simpson has confirmed he is fit and will ride in Italy, Lombardi this weekend. The chipper Scottish rider has just had two weeks back riding on his Yamaha YZF450F following the hand injury he picked up in the MXGP of Latvia. He is a confident and fast rider so i think he attempts to downplay his return will be put to the test this weekend.

Shauns press release:

"I know this is the most overrated thing to say: I just want to go there, ride and then see where I am at," Simpson said in a press release. "The hand has been pretty good, only after I ride it gets a bit stiff the next day, so I have been riding one day on, one day off and the second day it's back to normal. I'm feeling good on the bike; I was expecting to feel rusty, but like most motocross riders it only takes a few days off of the bike before you start stressing out and thinking, ‘I've got to get back on the bike.' As soon as I got back on it, I felt really comfortable. It sounds a bit strange, but I would say we left Latvia with quite a good feeling, mainly because we went into Latvia after doing a lot of testing on the bike and it was working so well."

"I guess that gave me the mental boost I needed for when I got back on the bike – that I knew straight away that the bike was good and where it needs to be," he continued. "I felt at home right away. I wasn't right up to speed and hitting all of my marks right away but, for the most part, I felt really good and closer to 100% than I expected. I'm looking forward to getting back on the line and mixing it up this weekend."

I met shaun personaly last year at my clubs presentation evening and he is a very happy and upbeat guy. I know he will be looking forward to getting back in the mix and showing the rest of the pack what he can do.

Simpson has 103 points currently in the MXGP standings which puts him in 14th so any return to action will greatly improve this. He is a consistant top 5 rider and has the ability to take home the win... Excited to see how this pans out :)

Woah LoL what a bike! Blue colour is da thing.

What caused him to have an accident?
Great that he has recovered!

He slid off the track and went into a pole which broke his middle metacarpal. Bad luck basicly.

damn that sounds nasty

yeah realy bad luck as he didnt crash or colide with anyone... just kinda skidded and lost the rear end traction which took him off the track into the side.

Up and running ? Good news! Thanks for the heads up! Glad he's recovered.

Gonna be a great race this weekend in sunny Italy! :)
