Rough Night, anyone?steemCreated with Sketch.

When I saw the preview for this movie my first impression was "Oh my, this is awful. I don't want to see that". But just wait a minute, what have I gone and done? It's been a long day, my husband's out late, and what do I do? Suddenly, despite all my efforts, I'm drinking a glass of Rosé and in the mood to watch a stupid movie. This movie seemed like the best option, right?

If you haven't seen the trailer then you better check it out:

Anyway, this is another movie that took me by surprise. Yes, I did turn the movie off within the first half, but then I got bored and turned it back on. The second half of the movie thoroughly surprised me.

What made this movie for me:

  1. Scarlett Johansson's acting game is so strong in this film.
  2. I was pleasantly surprised how the web of clichés built up at the beginning were shockingly shut down in the end.
  3. This movie is a comedy filled with good laughs!

The Cast

1. Scarlett Johansson - Jess (the Bride-to-be)

I've seen Johansson's performance in Girl With A Pearl Earring, Ghost in the Shell, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Lucy, and in all of them she plays a pretty serious role. This is the first I've seen her acting in more of a comedic role and, even though she's the more serious girl in the gang, it's nice to see her the humorous side. She plays comedy quite well, I think!

2. Paul W. Downs - Peter (Groom-to-be)

I didn't see this coming. Paul W. Downs plays the groom-to-be, Peter, and I don't envy him one bit! On the one hand, the men in this movie enjoy a Bachelor party filled with wine tasting while the ladies enjoy a crazy, wild night in Miami filled with clubs, strippers, guns, and drugs. Well, Peter also gets his hands on some drugs but for an entirely different reason... I'll just leave that one there. Kids, don't do drugs. Also, don't wear adult diapers without pants.

3. The Friends (From left to right): Zoë Kravitz, Ilana Glazer, Jillian Bell, and Kate McKinnon

Each actress I think did a great job at taking on these roles and proving that a Bachelorette themed movie can still be fun and fresh (even though I feel like these characters have all been done before). This was a breath of fresh air and these women definitely played the roles well. Each one provides a different sense of humor to the characters and I believe if it weren't for this cast the movie would have been a catastrophe.

In Summary

A girls night out turns terribly wrong when five friends come together to celebrate the bride-to-be. It was a comedy filled movie with twists and turns aplenty. It's like The Hangover with a twist and if you're bored, in the mood for something different, then give Rough Night a watch!
