Hey Everybody! I hope you are having a good weekend! The snow has hit Ireland and the only thing that can overcome this cabin fever is a few good movies for some entertainment! I hope you enjoy this true story of a talented author known as Christy Brown.


My Left Foot(1989)

My left foot is based on the talented Christy Brown who was born with celebral palsy and grew up in a working class irish family. Even though, Christy is quadriplegic and essentially paralysed, an unbelievable event occurs at 5 years of age. He demonstrates control in his left foot when he gathers chalk and uses it to write out the word Mother with his foot. This was a truly heart warming moment. His family has always been extremely supportive of Christy and include him in everything they do, they celebrated his achievement. As he now has control his left foot, he will be able to communicate to them what he needs along with his speech.


The movie brings you through his struggles and his greatest moments. His ongoing battle with his father, Christy demanding that he treat him like all his other kids. Christy's siblings always praises him for every poem he writes, every picture he draws and everything he has achieved that doctors thought would be impossible with his health condition. It is truly an inspiring and breathtaking movie.


You have been warned that there may be tears of joy shed at the end of the movie. At the end, his art is recognised by a the people of Ireland and the story of Christy Brown becomes well known nationwide.It is truly breathtaking a person who people and his family once believed that Christy would not do well in life ends up becoming an incredible author and overcome his struggles due to his drive, ambition and determination.
