Ranking the Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies
As you might guessed it I love to rank movies and to stir up controversy. What better way than with the recent release of Marvel's 18th movie in its cinematic universe to rank all the movies that have come out so far. Especially since I have just seen Black Panther this past weekend.
Now please believe this is all based on my personal preference for each film and I am sure no one will agree with whats the last one on the list or the first but please check out for an interesting read and let me know what your ranks are.
18. The Incredible Hulk
Most people don't even realize, count or want to believe this is part of the MCU. It's not an awful movie but considering the fact Mark Ruffalo plays a better Hulk this is placed at the bottom, sorry Ed Norton.
17. Iron Man 2
Not much to say here and I like Iron Man as much as the next guy but this was my least favorite of the Iron Man movies and towards the bottom of my list.
16. Thor
Say what you want to about Thor but Loki is one of the most compelling villains in the MCU.
15. Captain America: The First Avenger
Decent movie that came out right before The Avengers but felt like a 'filler' movie as people were pumped for The Avengers to finally come out the year after this.
14. Iron Man 3
Lot of haters here but Iron Man 3 was interesting in the post New York (Avengers Battle) world. Maybe it was unfairly judged since how do you move on properly after The Avengers?
13. Iron Man
Crazy to think it's been 10 years since the MCU started but Iron Man is what started it all. Of course it can be argued that it should be higher.
12. Doctor Strange
Solid second entry in phase three of the MCU. Doctor Strange was a fresh feel to the superhero genre. Not really even feeling like a superhero movie but more like The Matrix or Inception.
11. Avengers: Age of Ultron
The second entry in The Avengers films could have been bigger and better than the first but fell on its face a bit. The movie felt chaotic with too much going on, too many superheroes in one movie and not letting Ultron live up to his potential.
10. Thor: Ragnarok
Third movie in the Thor series didn't feel as big as it was supposed to be. Also felt like it was trying to force the humor which most of the time was not funny. Props to the character Korg though.
9. Thor: The Dark World
I know, how could I have Thor 2 this high? Listen, Thor 2 felt like what Thor: Ragnarok should of been. The stakes felt higher with the Dark Elves storming Asgard. Just enjoyed this movie more personally.
8. Spider-man: Homecoming
Spiderman: Homecoming was dare I say.....a homecoming for Spiderman back to Marvel for the MCU. They knocked it out of the box with this movie. Looking forward to seeing Peter Parker for years to come in the MCU.
7. Captain America: Civil War
The third movie in the Captain America series was entertaining as hell. I wasn't feeling the gravitas of the conflict between Iron Man and Captain however. I believe War Machine should of died at the end but maybe the Avengers would have never recovered if that happened.
6. Black Panther
Here it is, the newest entry in the MCU and the movie people won't stop talking about. Listen, it was an excellent movie but not my favorite. Movie was very well done and looking forward to more Black Panther.
5. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Ego the living planet? I'm Mary Poppins Y'all? Sign me up, Guardians hit again with Vol. 2 and I can't wait for the third one to give us more Star Lord.
4. Ant-Man
Paul Rudd in a superhero movie, how? why? But you know what, it was pulled off. This movie blended action and comedy in the perfect way and Ant-Man was really someone you want to root for in the MCU.
3. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
The Winter Soldier added such a conflicted character to the MCU that we have never seen before. This movie had such a great blend of action meets spy drama. Will Bucky be the next Captain?
2. The Avengers
The Avengers culminated phase one of the MCU in grand fashion with one of the best superhero team ups we have seen so far. Lets see if Infinity War tops this one.
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
I am a huge sci-fi fan by heart, let me just say. But Guardians went from one of those fairly unknown type comic books and just blew away the theaters. It was fresh, it was funny, it had action. Yes the villain was underwhelming but Star Lord and the crew have become house hold names. The Guardians movies are some of the best that have come out so far and I am really looking forward to their part in Infinity Wars.
Hope you all enjoyed reading my rankings and hope I didn't anger too many people! Let me just say I am not big into comic books nor did I read any of them growing up. So I have nothing to compare to for all of these and that is how my opinion is coming across, just a good ole fashioned movie viewing.
