There is no one who does not know that "Alien" is one of the greatest influences in the genre of Science Fiction in the world of cinema, and is that the legacy that left 40 years ago since its premiere is something that many value even today, with scenes that are still remembered thanks to his great success for those years. With Ridley Scott as Director and with his cast of actors such as Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, John Hurt, Yaphet Kotto, etc. It gave rise to crossovers, novels, comics, as well as served as an influence for other films and video games. It is one of the sci-fi movies with the highest income, it also received nominations for Best Visual Effects, Best Direction, Best Science Fiction Film, Best Supporting Actress, etc. So here I bring you a review of the first film of this saga.

The film places us in the year 2122 aboard the commercial ship called "The Nostromo" departing from the planet Thedus and heading for the earth, the seven crew members are in a cryogenic dream state. They wake up when they receive a transmission of unknown origin by the central computer "Mother". At first they believe they are close to the earth, until they discover that it is not so. Thanks to the calculations made by the ship, they discover that they are in the Zeta II Reticuli extrasolar system, on the limits of astronavigation, and are heading towards an unknown planet.

Opinion: Already speaking of the film itself, I found it quite good and interesting, with excellent visual effects, especially atmospheric and lighting, since we are talking about a 1979 film. The film maintains tension since it begins and transmits despair of facing a completely superior creature. It has many notable scenes, such as the Alien larva scene, or the abandoned ship. The one I liked the most was the first appearance of the Xenomorph and showing us how fast its development is. In this movie they imply that this creature is indestructible and how lethal it can be just one of these.

  • Fun fact: the drool that the Xenomorph drips constantly was not in the script or in the original design, but they had to constantly lubricate the head mechanism, the team realized that this made the creature more frightening and they choose to leave it that way.
