Poetic Film Review: 21 Jump Street (2012)

In halls of high school, where teens roam free,
A tale of two cops, in disguise, they'll be,
Schmidt and Jenko, an unlikely pair,
Sent to infiltrate, with humor to share.

From 80s TV show, to film, a leap was made,
With Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum, the comedy's played,
A satire of remakes, and high school life,
With laughs and action, the film takes flight.

The original show, deemed "cheesy" and old,
Is spoofed and ridiculed, with humor to unfold,
The film's aware of its limitations, and pokes fun,
At the practice of remakes, and the Hollywood machine, undone.

In Obama's America, times have changed, it's true,
The nerds are cool, and jocks are through,
The film comments on culture, and social norms,
With humor and wit, it tackles the forms.

With a diverse cast, and enthusiastic crew,
The film leaves a mark, and a lasting impression, anew,
Jonah Hill shines, as the unorthodox lead,
With Brie Larson, and Channing Tatum, the chemistry's freed.

The "buddy-buddy" dynamic, works like a charm,
With Tatum delivering, a comedic performance to disarm,
The film's a hit, with critics and fans, alike,
A sequel follows, but none have matched its spike.

So here's to 21 Jump Street, a film of its time,
A comedy classic, that will forever shine,
A tale of two cops, in high school disguise,
A story of humor, and satire, that opens eyes.
