Poetic Film Review: Gomorrah (2008)

In Naples' streets, where shadows play,
A world of crime, in darkness sways,
Camorra's grip, a suffocating hold,
A bleak reality, where hope grows old.

Roberto Saviano, a journalist bold,
Exposed the truth, in a book to be told,
Gomorrah, a name, that echoes through time,
A testament to the darkness that entwines.

The film, a reflection, of the book's dark heart,
A story of five, loosely connected from the start,
Don Ciro, Totò, Carmine, Pasquale, and more,
Each tale a thread, in the tapestry of Camorra's score.

The visuals, desaturated, a documentary's gaze,
A moving camera, that captures life's daze,
The locations, bleak, the actors, non-professional too,
Adding to the authenticity, of the story anew.

The violence, quick, brutal, and shocking to behold,
The music, absent, leaving only the sounds of cold,
The stories, tragic, comedic, and epic in scope,
A portrait of Naples, where crime and darkness cope.

The film, a critique, of the romanticized view,
Of Italian organized crime, as portrayed in Hollywood's cue,
A reminder that Camorra, is not a myth, or a tale,
But a reality, that affects, and prevails.

Gomorrah, a powerful, and unflinching portrayal,
Of the dark underbelly, of Neapolitan society's frail,
A testament to the destructive impact, of organized crime,
A reminder that hope, can be hard to find, in a world so unkind.

The book, the film, the television series too,
A trilogy of truth, that shines a light, on the darkness anew,
Roberto Saviano, Matteo Garrone, and more,
A team of brave, and talented individuals, who dared to explore.

The result, a masterpiece, that critiques, and reveals,
The harsh reality, of Camorra's grip, and its concealed deals,
A story, that needs to be told, and retold,
A reminder, that the truth, can be hard to hold.

Brother, I really appreciate your contributionism and it is fascinating how many movies you managed to watch and make a review of it.
Thank you & best regards,
Damir

I am not sure if he watches these movies and the poetry is written by AI. If you like films have a look at the community Netflix & Reviews and add yours. A great day to you.

Unfortunately, I very rarely watch movies and don't own a TV for more then 14 years. He is making those reviews for many many years before we had an AI at our disposal. Cheers

Good to hear that it's original. I am happy with that.

I don't have a tv either. I haven't watched since over 20 years. It avoids a lot of stress. I guess most watch using a computer or phone these days? At least that's what I do and mainly around this time of the year. Midwinter is good for it although I rather hibernate.😁

Yes, I found that many things you can watch there is not a TV program, but a TV programing...We very rarely choose something to watch on the Netflix. Enjoy the winter holiday season!

You can watch all sorts of films online, that's what I do and there are films you can watch on youtube (at times you have to be fast before they are deleted others remain without any problem). Our National TV senders broadcast certain films, programs and series online for those who missed it. I don't miss television with the endless commercials, news, commercials again. If you like Asian films and series you can watch them with the app Viki, many are for free.
A great Sunday to you.

If you read and comment a bit you will be noticed.
