Poetic Film Review: John Wick (2014)
In realms of Hollywood, where stars are born,
A Slavonian oak, Keanu Reeves, stands tall and sworn,
With acting chops, both strong and deep,
He weathers scripts, and directors' keep.
When elements align, like stars up high,
He shines, a genuine star, touching the sky,
Audiences flock, to witness his might,
Entertained, they leave, in the silent night.
He takes on roles, of few words, but deeds,
A quiet guardian, in a seedy creed,
Like Eastwood, Bronson, and Neeson, of old,
He walks the path, of heroes, bold.
John Wick, a name, that echoes through time,
A former assassin, with a heart that's blind,
To comfort, and peace, his soul does stray,
Haunted by memories, of a love that's grey.
A puppy's death, a spark, that sets him free,
A vengeful quest, that's all he can see,
Through underworld connections, he makes his way,
A killing machine, with no end in day.
The Tarasovs, a foe, that he cannot ignore,
Viggo's power, and Iosef's arrogant roar,
A conflict brews, with blood, and spectacle galore,
Wick, a force, that will not be swayed, or poor.
Directors, Stahelski, and Leitch, a perfect pair,
Their experience, and skill, leave no room for care,
The screenplay, by Kolstad, a work of art,
A heritage, of 60s cinema, that touches the heart.
The Continental Hotel, a world, so divine,
A haven, for hitmen, with secrets, and design,
A diverse cast, with Allen, and Nyqvist, so fine,
A film, that's successful, and justifiably sublime.
Though clichés, and predictability, may creep,
John Wick stands, as a masterpiece, in its sleep,
A testament, to Reeves, and his acting might,
A shining star, that guides, through the dark of night.
