Poetic Film Review: The Trouble with Harry (1955)

In Highwater's quaint Vermont town,
A body lies, a lifeless crown.
Harry Worp, a name so dire,

Each bear the burden of Harry's demise in space.
Captain Willes, with his hunting prowess,
Miss Gravely, with her striking shoe,

Sam Marlowe, the painter, with his heart of gold.

As they navigate the twists and turns,
The Trouble with Harry unfolds like a darkly comic urn.
Hitchcock's touch, so masterful and sly,

Banter and quips, a delight to hear.

But pacing issues plague the first half,
Long exposition, a stumbling path.
Yet, as the story unfolds, it shines so bright,
The Trouble with Harry takes flight.

A cast of veterans, with talent so grand,
Delightful performances, in every hand.
John Forsythe, a standout among the rest,
Shirley MacLaine, a young star at her best.

Bernard Herrmann's score, a haunting delight,
A lasting impression, a true work of art in sight.
The Trouble with Harry may not be Hitchcock's finest hour,
But it stands as a charming, quirky flower,
A testament to the director's range and skill,
A film that entertains, and still thrills.
