Poetic Film Review: Tristan & Isolde (2006)
In twilight's hush, where legends dwell,
A tale of passion, fate, and knell.
Ridley Scott, a master of the past,
Brought forth a story that would last.
Tristan and Isolde, a love entwined,
In medieval lore, their tale defined.
A century after Rome's decline,
Dark Ages Britain, a fractured line.
King Donnchadh's raiders, fierce and bold,
Exploit the weakness, their kingdom to hold.
Lord Marke, a leader, seeks to unite,
Against the invaders, a valiant fight.
Tristan, a warrior, adopted and true,
His parents lost, his heart in Ireland's hue.
Wounded and adrift, he finds his way,
To Isolde's care, a love to sway.
Unaware of their fates, they fall,
In love's embrace, their hearts enthrall.
But Donnchadh's offer, a peace to bind,
Tests their love, a tragic find.
Kevin Reynolds, a director of note,
With Robin Hood, a tale to quote.
But Tristan & Isolde, a different tone,
Realism, a sombre, depressive zone.
Arthur Reinhart's lens, a world of woe,
Saturated colors, a depressive glow.
Dean Georgaris' script, a tragic end,
A Romeo and Juliet, a tale to mend.
PG-13 rating, a dilution of might,
Gritty violence, erotic light.
James Franco, a young heart, no spark,
Sophie Myles, a princess, her role to mark.
Mark Strong and Henry Cavill, a lasting impression,
In a film that's underwhelming, a disappointment.
Yet in twilight's hush, the tale remains,
Of Tristan and Isolde, their love in vain.
