Poetic Film Review: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

In realms of Marvel, where heroes rise and fall,
A tale of Wolverine, a story to recall,
Born from comics, to screen did stride,
With origins told, and a journey to abide.

In eighteen forty-five, a young boy's might,
James Howlett, with claws, shone in the night,
With Victor, his brother, a bond did form,
Through wars and strife, their legend would storm.

From Civil War to Vietnam's bloody shore,
Team X, a covert unit, they did explore,
With Stryker's guidance, and a sinister aim,
James and Victor, their paths did proclaim.

Tragedy struck, and Kayla's life did fade,
James, with adamantium, his fate was made,
A super-mutant, with a heart of gold,
Wolverine, a hero, with a story to unfold.

But alas, the film, with flaws did abound,
A leak, a strike, and a script, unbound,
Critics panned, and fans did express their spite,
Over continuity, and characters, not quite right.

Gavin Hood's direction, with visuals did shine,
But the screenplay, with problems, did entwine,
Tonal inconsistencies, a balance did lack,
And the narrative, with promise, did turn back.

Hugh Jackman, with dedication, did strive,
But limited material, his talent did deprive,
A commendable performance, in a flawed design,
A redeeming quality, in a film, not divine.

The franchise, with lessons, did learn and grow,
Abandoning origins, for prequels to show,
Jackman, with perseverance, did stay the course,
And Logan, a masterpiece, did ultimately endorse.

Deadpool, with redemption, did find his way,
A standalone film, with Ryan Reynolds, in play,
A reimagined version, with humor and with flair,
A sequel, with jabs, at the origins, did declare.

Thus, the story of Wolverine, a tale of might,
With flaws and lessons, a journey, in plain sight,
A hero's origin, with a complex, troubled past,
A franchise, with growth, and a future, to forecast.

How I love the Wolf with or without ire
Isn't he charming?
A great match for the men and women of X.

I wonder how come you keep writing without a single response.

I follow you and hop by again.

A great last week of December 2024.

Interesting suggestion, but the general subject of my posts is more specific. I might consider it in the future, though.
